They must think they’re in North Carolina or something.
Frank, is that you?
LMAO. So it seems...
Lotsa snow up here but no Huskies....just my Deer pals!
This is for Diana and, especially any native Brits (i.e., those of you still living in the UK).
I mooed from the Milwaukee area to the Knoxville, TN area a little over 30 years ago. Milwaukee is the second coldest major city in the US, while Knoxville, being in the central southern US, is mostly miserable, grey, and drippy for most of the winter, much like a lot of the UK. However, we do have occasional snow and even blizzards. When any kind of a snow event is forecast here in Knoxville, there’s usually a snow panic, just like the one you Brits are experiencing now. OTOH, for Diana and her friends in WI the average panic producing events we have would be cause for nothing more than making sure the furnace is working and waxing up the skis. After all, a good cross-country skiing day is one with a temperature of about 10 degrees F, bright, white snow, and a crystal clear blue sky.
The scariest part of a disaster is the aftermath when idiot, unprepared, politically correct, no common sense people appear.
Ireland too of course - https://www.irishtimes.com/news/environment/snow-alert-as-exceptionally-cold-weather-to-sweep-over-ireland-1.3405864
The things I’ve missed the most in bad storm-related power outages has been cash in small denominations, and a way to make hot coffee.
We usually have enough of everything on hand; but there have been times when the merchants nearby were only accepting cash. You could buy a can of motor oil, for instance - which we happened to need - or most other things you might need; but you had to have cash.
What about the Scotch and Bourbon? No one should have to suffer from excessively low blood alcohol.
Bread, milk, ——— and toilet paper!
Here in Oklahoma, winter is gone. Rainy season started early. Of course, we could get a late winter surprise, but even if we do, it’ll be of very short duration. Sure don’t miss those long northern winters.
Well, this happens even in Upstate NY, the Siberia of the US.
You’d think that people born and raised in Upstate NY would know that in the middle of winter, we are likely to get a storm and be ready ahead of time, but NOOOOOOOOOO.
You’d think every storm was not only the first time they ever saw snow, you’d think it was the literal beginning of the next ice age.
Sheesh........
We have a few icy spots, but we live in Hill Country, so the rain water headed downhill and...into your yard! ;)
Here in ATL, impending snowy/icy weather means grocery stores get cleaned out of the French toast holy trinity - milk, bread, and eggs.
LOL! He does a great job!
I like Frankie’s particular brand of PANIC, though:

I’m going to name my future milk cow, ‘Witherbelle.’ :)
