Bias on Guns: Gap between movie review & audience scores is huge for Bruce Willis’ “Death Wish”

The gap between what audiences think of a movie and what top movie critics think of a movie has rarely been larger than for Bruce Willis’ “Death Wish.” In fact, it is numerically very difficult for that gap to be any larger. While only 8% of the top critics (and 14% of all movie reviewers) at Rotten Tomatoes like the new “Death Wish,” 85% of the audiences who saw it like it.

We have done some searching on the Rotten Tomatoes website, but we can’t find anything recent even close to that 78% gap. Thankfully, the Guardian newspaper looked at 10,000 movies over the period from 1970 to 2013 also using the Rotten Tomatoes database. Using the score for all critics, there were 11 movies that had a larger gap (though a few of the movie scores seem to be different from what the Guardian saw so it was more like 9 of the movie had larger gaps). . . .

Critics lie and say that their love of a movie (or hate of one) is not based in politics. Roger Ebert himself made this claim.

He also proudly gave a 0 star rating to a film about a man on death row who is trying to get off. Except the character really was guilty and the movie took place in Texas. He so disagreed with the concepts (and the location) even though he acknowledged the writing and acting and actors were good. He said that you couldn’t make that movie, not in Texas.

He also said that there was no bias in only covering left-wing documentaries because there were so many from the left, so few from the right, and was unwilling to see any conservative documentaries (or film fests) even in his own neighborhood.

Time was the public had to turn to established critics to get a sense of whether a film was enticing or not. Now they can see the trailers online, see what other “common men” are saying about it, etc.

And the track record of the films an audience liked (but that the critics hated) is there to call into question their other picks or slams.

Just like to know how he bought that fully auto rifle for the final shoot out from a Chicago gun store.

Film critics are among the most left wing biased people in the country. Anything that fat punk Moore puts out gets spotted 3 out 4 stars before it’s even seen. While any conservative doc will be automatically trashed often by the critic who never even sees it. Ignore these a-holes and see go this one just to flip them off if for no other reason.

That's because critics/reviewers are liberal bed-wetters who want to live in nannyworld. This movie was made for an audience of Americans fed up with wussyland.

Gee I didn’t see the 1st Death Wish and I now know there is a final shoot out with a semi auto rifle.

Maybe you want to tell us all how it ends too.

If you want to know which movies are worth seeing—go to rotten green tomatoes. Ignore the critics reviews and pay attention to audience reviews. Movies that score above 80% will not make you feel like you wasted your money. Movies above 90% will make you feel like you got your money’s worth.

I have seen a number of films that critics raved about and found them boring.

I don’t pay mind to any of the critics as to whether to see a film or not.

And the fans of exploitation cinema who liked the original Death Wish and the spinoffs and knockoffs that came later didn’t seem political or partisan in the 70s 80s and 90s when they wrote about them but after 2000 went barking moonbat libtard batsh!t crazy. Loving on Obama. Hating on Bush. Hating on Bush’s investing in Touchstone Films etc in the 90s. That’s not a self-respecting movie critic (exploitation films or otherwise), that’s a grumpy middle aged (and older) man shaking his fist at passing clouds.

I seriously doubt that the critics from Psychotronic Video, Shock Cinema, et al will have ANYTHING positive to say about this reboot or the politics of white male cisgender privilege vigilante justice.

Trayvon wasn’t supposed to die, his “creepy ass cracker” target was supposed to accept the first blood possibly lethal “beatdown”.

Roger Ebert got busted in his later years submitting a review for a movie he hadn’t watched.
