The cops in Brazil don’t play. They ride all kinds of different bikes to keep these scumbags in order. The Brazilian cops also have this bad habit of shooting them when they catch them.

Are you kidding? Brazil is a crime cesspool and the cops down there are arguably as corrupt as the Mexican federales. And I’m not sure what some 3rd world sh*t hole has to do with New Haven and this story.

Totally agree that is a bad habit. We embrace lawful due process in this country.
President David Hogg may seek firearms be confiscated starting in 2036.
I do not want those future officers “having a bad habit of shooting people” enforcing whatever they wish.

Agreed, dragnet2. I similarly shake my head at people on this site who desire an “all-powerful police force” who execute people at roadside.

I’ve always wanted a Harley like Eval Knievel’s, but I wouldn’t mind having my old KDX200 again.

We made it legal to ride ATVs and dirt bikes on many of our streets and roads.

We also have over 1,000 miles of trails in our county.

I ride a Rokon Trailbreaker.

And in the winter we have over 7,000 miles of snowmobile trails in the state.

Skidoo for that.

That sounds like fun. I have several street bikes, as well as a Suzuki DR650 dual-sport that is licensed for the road. It's a lot of fun on unpaved roads and trails but is too bulky for serious off-road use - at least for a person with my level of dirt riding talent. In Virginia, ATVs and dirt bikes are only allowed to be ridden across public roads, not on or along them (except in some riding areas in some state parks, I think).

Of course, we don't get enough snow here to justify having a snow mobile but I've always wanted to try one out.

In my area growing up (NJ Meadowlands), one town’s cops would chase these kids in Broncos. Not the ideal vehicle, but fairly effective for the time; most of the trails were alongside railroad tracks, so the Broncos could do it (they just weren’t fast enough, and if the riders simply turned into the weeds the Broncos wouldn’t follow because the swampy ground would stop them).

Ah yes, the venerable XR-750.

You know, for few years (’08 through ‘13, I think) Harley was selling a more modern version of the XR (as a 1200). Nice bike. It retained a lot of that classic “street-tracker” look from the original XR750. There are good used examples available for not too much money (by today’s standards, that is). I’ve seen a couple ‘09s for around $5K-$6K.

They did not sell am awful lot of them - it was definitely a niche market. However, those are the kinds of bikes that often end up being “collectible” twenty years later, so if you want one I’d recommend finding it soon.

"We made it legal to ride ATVs and dirt bikes on many of our streets and roads."

States that suppress the use of atvs are foolish to say the least... The economy of the industry would be good for any state or county...
