A lost city dating to the rule of King David from the Old Testament has been uncovered in Jerusalem. King David is an ancestor of Jesus, according to biblical sources, which say he ruled around BC 1,000. Experts say that recently-found ruins date to the 10th century BC. This ties in with the timeframe for when the bible says King David existed, making the link between the two 'plausible', researchers claim. The finding is likely to fuel the debate surrounding whether Biblical figures such as King David actually existed, however.

David’s name was found on a stela over a century ago..............

“King David is an ancestor of Jesus”. I don’t think that is right. God was the father of Jesus— Right? Of course Joseph was not in the blood line and there is no reference at all to a blood line from David to Mary. I think this statement is not factual.
Did they locate the old threshing floor?
Thanks for the link.
Some people doubt the existence of David, Moses, etc. (practically any biblical figure), but have no problem believing in the existence of mooHAMed, Alexander the Great, etc....
“Speaking to Breaking Israel News, he said: ‘Until 25 years ago no one doubted that King David was a historical figure.
“’In the last 25 years or so, however, Davids historicity, and especially the size of his kingdom, are hotly debated.”
Last 25 years...Things sure have gone down hill quickly in that time, eh?
The Lord said that one of David’s ancestors would always sit on the throne...that is a reference to the Messiah, so yes, Jesus is a descendant. I’ve always loved that David’s grandmother was a gentile. This means that Jesus encompasses both the Jew and the Gentile.
fascinating
I believe that they were both included to show that Jesus is descended from King David by whichever parent you choose. However, that is my own opinion and YMMV.
I thought Mary claimed descent from the ‘house of David’
Agreed!
I already knew it existed
I think the Bible has been affirmed by archeology so many times that generally, it should be accepted as historical fact unless DISPROVEN. As I see it, it is not a matter of IF it will be proven with archeological finds, but WHEN. And keep in mind, the Muzzies have been trying very hard to destroy such evidence every chance they get.
The author is a biblical moron, the news is not new.
A great age we live in. Evidence for the grave of the slave Joseph, in Egypt, has also surfaced.
Really? There are two genealogies one in Mathew, one in Luke. One of his mother and one of his adoptive father, who was of the royal line. Both are descendants of David.
...as part of the Tribe of Judah, of which David was the founder.........????????????????
Judah is the FOUNDER......................
Both Joseph and Mary were of Davidic lineage...................
