The Scouts should have been prepared for this.
One week after the century-old Boy Scouts of America announced it was changing its name and its mission to accept girls at all levels of scouting, its single biggest participant announced Tuesday that it was cutting ties to the Scouts.
And taking one-fifth of the Scouts membership with it.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, usually known as the Mormons, announced Tuesday that it was severing its relationship with the Scouts effective Dec. 31, 2019, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
In a statement issued jointly by the church and the Scouts, the church explained the move by noting that its membership was more global now than ever, and required a global approach.
“In this century of shared experience, the church has grown from a U.S.-centered institution to a worldwide organization, with a majority of its membership living outside the United States,” the joint statement said.
“That trend is accelerating. The church has increasingly felt the need to create and implement a uniform youth leadership and development program that serves its members globally. In so doing it will be necessary for the church to discontinue its role as a chartered partner with BSA.”

There needs to be a concerted effort to win back the leadership positions.
Don’t walk away form Boy Scout assets and leave them to Liberals. Fight for them.

As for as allowing girls, I think female troops are okay. It would be a good alternative to the lesbian invested girl scouts.
The real problem the Boy Scouts have is to reverse the decision to allow gays into leadership positions.
Am I being paranoid if I speculate that this is *not* an unintended consequence?

Good. BSA is dead. I disagree strongly with Mormon theology, but we are of one accord on this issue.
It's the same reason BSA voted to include gays -- the corporate sponsors demanded it.

the BSA should take a lesson from the Catholic Church. I’m sure the church wouldn’t condone retreats with young boys anymore. Many lives were ruined during that very sad period.It is far too great a risk ,just research the many support groups for victims
We’ve been saying that the left destroys everything it touches, and now they are destroying the Boy Scouts right before our eyes. Probably in 10 years, the Boy Scouts will be 1/5th its current size, and most members will be homosexuals or girls.
I am as scrappy as they come, but the Bad Guys have been gunning for the Boy Scouts for thirty years...and the Bad Guys have won. Actually, the Bad Guys won when the BSA’s own board approved the absurd gay-men-can-be-scout-leader rule change.
Now that the Boy Scouts themselves have thrown in the towel by allowing girls and taking “Boys” out of the name, there is nothing left to fight for.
Trail Life USA is a great alternative to the “evolving” Scouts.
Why not now? Are they waiting to see if they change it back to Boy Scouts?
