I read the book but it took me ten or so years to see the movie.
All James Cann’s punches and kicks were pulled and otherwise ineffective due to the camera angle. But towards the end James Cann is genuinely hurting him with the garbage can and lid. Some other blows too.
...and then blacklisting the ones who fight back which undermines capitalism and the free enterprise system by making ideological or illegal (or both) criteria the determining factor for success instead of job performance and talent.
That’s why God invented the Philippines.
In 74 he was in two separate movies nominated for a best picture award, one of which won.

I read about three Mario Puzzo books ten years ago. One was centered in Las Vegas. Never wanted to read the God Father or see the movie. To me its just ridiculous stinkin gangsters and thugs and 90% are scum. I get that they had a code of honor, loved their children and were manly but they were scum who stole from honest people with their protection rackets and other rackets. At least they only killed each other, not outsiders.
If you’re serious, yes there was and it was horrible.

Michael has his brother and brother in law killed. At the end of GF II he shuts the door on Kay, without a word, as shes slipping out the back. And they want to try and convince me that Micheal would fake being a cab driver to pick Kay up at a train station in Sicily? Only if he planned to kill her.
The book was good though.
