How awful. In my college days, I did some lifeguarding. I was constantly schooling the parents. Parents should never be more than arms length from a toddler, even if it’s in the bathtub. A toddler should learn how to tread water as young as they’re able.

This would be absolutely crushing.

Be with God now, child.

Very sad, but who the hell would leave a 19 month old child alone in a pool long enough to drown?

since we’ve always had a pool I started my daughter when she was a baby. Mommy and me classes at the Y. Then with the grandkids they go in as soon as the pools warm enough. They’re all half fish now. Our 3 year old grandson could dam near swim at 1 yr old.

I have had to pull a daughter out of water, but by the grace of God I was able to resuscitate her.

There is nothing like picking your little girl out of water and seeing nothing in her eyes. That vision still haunts my nightmares.

There is nothing like seeing the light come back in them as you give CPR.

I feel terrible for the Millers and ask God to give them solace in knowing, just as David did, that their little girl is with our Father in heaven.

Beyond sad... This baby was the same age as my youngest granddaughter. I can only imagine how devastating this is to her family.

Me too, I was a life guard for four summers. I pulled out a few 2-3 years olds per summer. Parents were not watching and these kids sink right to the bottom.

My wife wants an inground pool....I said no way.

My wife was 6 months pregnant with one of our sons when he was still born. Shortly after while at my sister’s pool, my two older daughters were playing at one end, my mom’s (older) boy friend was watching our 3 yr. son. I just happened to be walking by as he was looking down to sit down, my 3 yr. old slipped silently into the pool. If I wasn’t there I hate thinking what could’ve happened. Tragedy on top of tragedy. It happens fast.

That happened to a friend of mine.
Daughter drowns while husband sits on the computer.
NOT watching the baby.

RIP very sad

Doubtful any details will ever be released on this incident

If she was allowed to wander unsupervised near an open pool is that neglect?

Tragic stories-----

Tommy Lee (Pamela Anderson's ex) had a kid's pool party. Most of the kids brought their nannies to keep an eye on the. One kid didnt......nobody noticed when he sunk to the bottom....and drowned.

This child's death is haunting-----the little son of singer Eric Clapton, living with his ex, loved to climb up on the heating register and look through the large window......high up over NYC.

One day the window washers were there, and had removed the window....they warned that the boy should not be admitted while they worked. But somehow he got in....hopped up on the register and fell to the ground, killing him instantly.

The mother blamed herself.....she momentarily stopped to check her mail .......as this unfolded.

Kids can move so fast.

When I was changing my infant son one day, my daughter just took off running.

I got his diaper on him as fast as possible but in the time that it took me to react, she had run downstairs and out the door and was on the lawn heading for the street.

Afterwards I locked the doors even when we were in the house just to prevent that from happening again.

The amount of time for them to find her missing and search for her, before they looked in the pool would be enough for it to be too late.

How sad. I hope they can forgive themselves.

One I pulled out of the kiddie pool, the mother was following my orders (I was paranoid about keeping the kids safe) and sitting at the side of the pool. The mom was sitting there, talking, and didn't even know that her young one had slipped under water. At the point I taught treading water and blowing bubbles lessons for toddlers.

Above ground pools have many disadvantages, but the young 'uns can be kept out of them. Those kiddie pools were a real hassle to watch.

An expanse of water is very inviting to children........

One tragic story——the couple had a very modern home with a sunken bathtub almost level with the floor.

The Mother drew her bath as the phone rang......

......while she was on the phone, the infant who could not even walk, had crawled to the tub, and fell in.

When she got off the phone she found him drowned.
