THE BEARS ARE BACK
Welcome to Brooks Falls in Alaska's Katmai National Park and Preserve. Every summer, the brown bears of Katmai flock to Brooks Falls to hunt the sockeye salmon fighting their way upstream to spawn. Watch salmon leaping up the falls and the brown bears fishing with their young. You'll see the most bear action on this cam in July and August, but keep an eye out for bald eagles and gulls flying overhead... and, if you're lucky, maybe even a wolf or moose

Alaska Ping!
Well that’s a confusing title!
I visited Hallo Bay in Katmai National Park in 2010. Those bears were huge.

Brown bears otherwise know as grizzlies ...
My father was fond of saying:
Some days you gits the bear
Some days the bear gits you
Most days you just gits bear hair all over you
The plan is next summer for us.
“Brown bears otherwise know as grizzlies ...”
All grizzlies are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzlies. The grizzly is a North American subspecies of brown bear. The correct scientific name for a grizzly is brown bear, but only coastal bears in Alaska and Canada are generally referred to as such, while inland and Arctic bears and those found in the lower 48 States are called grizzly bears.
As a rule coastal bears tend to be larger than the inland bears due to the difference in diets.

And Katmai is on the coast ... and the correct scientific name for a grizzly is Ursus arctos ssp. ‘Grizzly Brown Bear’ is one common name for it.
Been watching that feed for years. Love it. Thanks for the reminder.
Yep just found explore.org last year.
the entire month of July was spent on that channel just watching the action.
In order not to miss a thing, we’ve checked the site now for weeks and today was the DAY! Hooray! It’s now marked on the calendar ;-)
I live 30 air miles from Brooks Camp.
Wonderful place!
BEAR ALERT NOW!
Thank you for that link!
:-)
Depending on the season, explore.org live streams bears of all types, whales, sharks, tropical fish, birds, bison, wild animals in Kenya - it is overall a great site if inclined to outdoor and wild life
