Trump's first appearance was in a remote that aired October 1, 1986: Dave paid a quick visit to his office at Trump Tower. (This was referenced in the next clip.)
Trump's first guest appearance on Late Night was taped fourteen months later on December 2, 1987, and aired on December 22. He came on to promote his book he didn't write, _Art of the Deal_. It being the run-up to the 1988 campaign, Dave asked if he were interested in running for the presidency. Bless your heart for posting this! Trump is, in more ways than one, the same man he was 30 years ago. And the world in 1986, in more ways than one, was the way it is now (only now is worse.) - It kills me how disrespected he is. We’re so lucky...undeserving to have him at the helm. He was clearly destined for his role, it was only a matter of time...and God chose now for when we needed him most.

Man, from a female point of view, Donald Trump was and (although older) still is, a very handsome man. A man of action then, and very much a man of action now. And Letterman was indeed a very funny guy back then. Too bad he soured with age. Trump on the other hand, looks at the world as the glass half full to this very day.

LOL. So true. We used to live in NJ, and had sent in to be in the audience for the show. Months went by and we got our tickets sent to us for our night to be there.

At the time we were so bummed.
Looking back, now we’re sort of glad we missed it. The show that is!

At about 15;00 Trump starts talking about other countries taking advantage of us. He was mostly talking about Japan which has now been replaced by China but he was spot on.

What a great interview! And yes to how handsome they. My preference is for Trump however. He hasn’t changed his opinion a bit. It looks as though he waited for someone to fulfill on all he spoke of. They didn’t. He decided it was up to him. He did! That was 30 years ago. Amazing!!!
