My favorite true story about my dear English friend.

I’ve posted this before but considering the date, I’ll post it again.

I worked with this guy from London and meet him when he came to the US for work. We hit it off almost instantly and became good friends. Very intelligent, affable go lucky Brit that had a tendency to disparage America and Americans. This, I would never let pass.

On one trip to the U.S. he and his wife had some free time and rented a car drove from Washington D.C. up to Boston and back just to experience America. When they returned I asked him about his trip and what he thought. He said it was “Great”, but, “You Americans have no creativity”, I asked “What do you mean”, He said “Virtually every town or city is named after places in England”, I shot back in an instant “We weren’t Americans then”. He was destroyed and he knew it, so he said “Well done”. Then we spent the day celebrating on the Mall in D.C. on July 4th. He was having a great time and I asked him if he thought it was ironic for him, as a proud Brit, to be celebrating America’s Independence?

He was dumbfounded and I don’t think anybody has ever challenged his anti-American views.

There’s so much more.
