For a truly mind bending and mind boggling experience, try EVE Online. It has a deep and intriguing back story in which you participate. Everything you do has consequences and you can do almost anything. It is a persistent, 24/7 single shard, or instance universe. There is no set story line or course of action. You don’t win EVE. You partcipate in it. Check it out.

And for when you can’t be bothered with complicated stuff, there’s mining to try to earn enough ISK to get 500 PLEX so you can essentially keep all your skills and ships without having to pay.
Oh yeah, passive skills are dreadful to watch. Nearly a month to get a drone skill from 4 to 5. :(
There’s Warframe, made by Canadian company Digital Extremes. They just had their annual Tennocon, where they officially announced an open-world on Venus, plus space combat connected to it, plus the game expanding to the Nintendo Switch, plus a continuation of the current story/campaign/quest, albeit with a different name.
All of that entirely for free.
They also had a few hundred thousand people watching them stream on Twitch.
I’ve been playing for years and have been enjoying it for a long time.
This SJW push is a concerted interference at every level of gaming and fandom. Video games, table top games, RP games, and ancilliary areas of fandom such as comics and movies.
Offensive, condescending, cash killing and ubiquitous.

They are pushing HARD and in concert, and at the corporate level in a number of instances. IMO, they are pushing a disproportionately vulnerable group, too. Many gamers are young, inexperienced or simply shy and are easily beaten up by these agitators. They travel in packs, too. Vicious attacks online, if one gives them any regard. They will say outright that “nazis” need to be driven from gaming.
I personally enjoy crossing swords with them, as being an obstreperous swine is a professional requirement for me, and gaming is a way to leave that behind for a while. When they invade my game space it’s castle doctrine, sugar.
I will romance the skulls of any of them who give me the justification for pressing charges of cyberstalking, defamation or whatever.

The SJWs are losing influence and audience among gamers, and businesses that cater to their diktat are losing LOTS of sales.
Gamers are disproportionately socially awkward, but they are also disproportionately critical thinkers. That is often a part of why they game. They do better seeing through the SJW smokescreen than many other groups.
Even gaming groups are polarized now. They’ll go to different shops, and meet at different houses for table top games, and belong to different guilds in online games. Parallel fan pages will run covering the same game. It’s bizarre.

My daughter is always getting hit on as Gamer girls are very popular. She could make money off of that but she's not that type.
My youngest daughter has been gaming since she was quite a young child. She was telling hubby and I about the SJWs targeting gaming some years ago. If someone in your house was a gamer, you probably have been aware of this trend for a while.
Earlier this year, I asked her if she was going to go to the Seattle Comic Con. This usually was a must go thing for her to do. She really enjoyed the panels and the costumes that people would put together and wear. She told me no, she wasn't going. Why? Because the SJW's had taken over the entire enterprise and had put in draconian rules, that were mostly anti-male; but, also, no costumes.
They had ruined an event that my daughter had been going to for years. You are right, they are a curse no matter where they are.
Gaming instead of a real life. What a pity.
Get a life. Do something besides gaming.
Cliques are big so I doubt they would allow any whinny “faggots” in.

Just so. Those are groups that have sorted themselves, and established trust levels and mutual support. Those are the nodes the incel neckbeards attack. Gamers are not the easy meat that SJWs are used to.
Agreed on gamer girls, too, which it the outrage du jure. After being called a ‘Nazi’, for invoking Wheaton’s Law as sufficient for all group gaming etiquette, one of the baby neckbeards asked me very indignantly how my gaming world would change with ‘girls’ in it. Had to laugh. I WOULD be surprised to see a female grind through painting up a bunch of T34s or M113s. For online gaming they would just reinforce the majority that already is their.
Pitifiul lot the SJWs are, but happily most will not reproduce.

I'm somewhat of a Geezergamer, but never online. Perfectly content playing individual w/AI campaign, RSV "Terrorist Hunt" and the like. Just got into the Ghost Recon series. Hehehe.
It's great for rainy days, long winter nights, and times like the current recuperation from knee surgery. I'm hoping it will help keep my brain busy should I find myself immobile as I get older.
The Virtual reality looks promising. It would be nice to keep "exploring" even after I'm physically unable. d:^)

LMAO. You sound like the one leftist, and non gamer, in my family - the Netflix and shopping addict. “Real life” suburban stuff. TV. ESPN. Bowling. Movies. Restaurants. This is a mantra promoted by mass media too, as their passive audience has aged and diminished.
You won’t be able to get your head around this, but gamers pity those like you, to the extent you are even thought about.
