In Aces High the WW2 simulation, if you shoot one of your own sides rides, you blow up instead.
“I’m somewhat of a Geezergamer, but never online.”
Good for you! You should give it a whirl sometime though. Communities can be great, and MMOs offer more puzzle solving, team based things that can be a lot of fun. I’ve been gaming for nearly half a century now; longer if you count chess. Keeps the brain agile.
VR will come. It is a matter of time. It will be expensive too. Some good games will sort of transport you already, but true VR will be incredible. The military will have it first, sure as kreigspiel.
Obstreperous, yes, it’s a lovely word and a fun way to live the left needs to run face first into it more often.
Game on!
In the meantime, I'll be out in the real world enjoying multi-day canoe/camping trips, very long hikes, photographing wild flowers and mountain scenes. I'll also enjoy building rockets, including the solid propellant motors from scratch. Then, of course, I get a kick out of building nice furniture in my considerable wood shop and scratch building firearms in my metalworking shop. Of course, I just have to work in some time for that durn HO gauge railroad system. Did I mention that I also design, build, and program electronic instrumentation for several clients? Oh, I also work extensively with Photoshop. I enjoy rifle and pistol marksmanship.
I can tell my grandchildren about real adventures I have had. You will be able to tell yours all about your simulations.
You are the one who attracts actual pity, not a simulation of such.
I prolly will one-of-these-days now that we live in a place with decent internet speed. I hung around on the "Geezergamer" site a few years ago to see what that was about. All I've ever heard was stories about annoying little game brats with nothing better to do than anonymously scream in their mics at everybody. The guys on the site were talking about exclusive groups of some sort where there was relief from such jackassery. But I elected for the KISS principle and stuck with solo. Crap, I ran RSV2 Terrorist Hunt for damn near 4 years straight in between "real world" activities.
Mostly mess with shooters like COD, Gears and Rainbow Six/Clancy series. Tried Fallout 3 and just couldn't get into it. Not enough shooting. Hehehe. d;^)
Oh no! Slowly step away from the model train.. Hehehe. d;^)
Had a bout with those one time and they seemed like they could get addictive in short order! So many towns and tracks to build.
One of our properties had the old railbed for the WBS from "The Old Man and the Boy" on it. Felt compelled to build a depiction of it to Wilmington, but got too nice of an offer for the place before it got too far along.
Used to love working on varmint gear as well. Had a mini shop in the basement with a 1/2 size Rockwell Knee mill and an old Southbend lathe with other such truck that goes with makin chips-n-shavings. But found out quickly that cuttin on a $2-300 piece of SS tubing from Mssrs. Hart, Lilja and Shilen was not the place for someone with a slight attention deficit.
But I had a grande time making nice x axis adjustable pedestal rests and tripods for the field.
I still had time to game back then as well. It's fun being multi-faceted, eh? d;^)
I learned a new, and enjoyable word today. Thanks! d:^)
I was wanting to give thanks as well. A day in which I learn a new word is a good day!
Agreed!
I regularly hafta look up words I see here on FReep. Read somewhere that you should never skip over a word ya don't understand. d:^)
Curse you Parker Brothers!
Just the right amount of Mountain Dew and grease.
Now where are the holes? Across the street?
She was MY mail-order bride!
Two of us together could really churn up some stuff. I have enjoyed making all sorts of stuff. I've applied micro-controllers to that train, making traffic lights and the like. Hmmm, I had to dismantle it when we moved. Maybe its time to dig out and old vice.
Plaster of Paris, foam, wallboard mud, and an airbrush are trappings of creation.
For all your indefference, you certainly talk a lot.
My little room is nearly at resonance. Its like singing in the shower. ;-D
I’m a semi-retired geezer.
My first Fallout game was Fallout New Vegas. I enjoyed it and am now playing Fallout 3.
I’ve gotten into doing video playthroughs and uploading them to YouTube. I just did upload #079 of my series for FO3.
At present, I’m working on 3 games at a time, cycling through them doing 2 videos of one before moving on to the next.
The other two I’m working on are The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006) and Alien Isolation (2014)
It’s been fun learning how to better produce them as I gain more experience,
plus I’m working on improving my gear with an investment in a quality studio microphone, cradle, pop filter and boom arm.
It was a treat to get my first comment from a viewer, a nice young Italian girl who wrote...
“It’s so beautiful see an average man who plays videogames! I feel so glad and surprise”
I went to her channel to give her a reciprocal sub even though I don’t have a clue what she is saying, lol...
Breeding hobbies. Yayyy! Hehehe.
I really kinda hate that I didn't care for Fallout 3. Seemed like a good idea with all the wondering around gathering stuff in a post apocalyptic wasteland infested with some funky bad guys. Mebbe I'll trip over something a bit less interactive along those lines one-of-these-days. I find the Gears pace enjoyable. It allows me to wonder around and check out the creativity and detail of the background. Which usually gets me shot inna head or some such. Hehehe. There's all kinds of neatness in between battles. d;^)
I've still got month of recovery so I may toss Fallout back in and re-try it after I get thru wearin out GRFF. d:^)
