The latest classic TV show to get the musical treatment has been announced: CBSs mid-60s hit Green Acres, about a married couple whos made it in New York, only to return to the simple life on a country farm.
The show is officially in the works after years of trying to get it off the ground; way back in 2012, Variety reported that a stage production of Green Acres was in the beginning stages, but nothing came of the effort. Its finally come together as part of the launching of Center Stage Capital, Inc., a new entertainment company set to present a portfolio of original musicals bound for Broadway and Off-Broadway. Green Acres The Musical will be produced by Center Stage Capitals CEO Pam Laudenslager and Chief Operating Officer Colleen Lober, as well as TV veteran Richard Chapman.
Heres the shows official synopsis: Green Acres The Musical is a fast-paced, contemporary story that features the best in comedy, music and dance. This is the spirited musical comedy love story of Oliver and Lisa Douglas. He is a high-powered, Manhattan attorney and she is an aspiring fashion designer and, together, they are living the good life in New York City. Faced with the overwhelming pressure to run his familys law firm and live up to his fathers reputation, Oliver longs for the simple life, but New York and all that it has to offer is Lisas perfect world. What happens when two people in love find themselves wanting opposite lives sends us on a journey that is both hilarious and filled with heart.

Trump sings Green Acres
I hope it shoosts to success.
Ahhh, but have you ever heard Green Acres lyrics sung to “Purple Haze” melody?
With Joy Behar as Arnold?
I love that fickle Govt Employee - cant remember his name ...
Don’t insult Arnold!
As Lisa would say, “A pig is a person to another pig.”
The gay Douglas couple will be Oliver and Larry Douglas an interracial transsexual couple. You figure out who is who.
The neighbors will be fruits and pervs. The plot will be the transformation of the Douglas farm into a socialist collective, with songs straight out of the rappin' jungle.
They have to turn everything into a bloody musical.
David Spade as Mr. Haney, Louis Anderson as County Agent Kimball, Ellen DeGeneres as Ralph Monroe, Dice Clay as Fred Ziffle. Sean Hayes as Eb...
This will be a disaster. The whole success of Green Acres was the fabulous cast - who are either dead or drooling by now.
Who’s going to play Mr. Haney? Or Hank Kimball? Eb would probably be the easiest to replace - there are plenty of complete morons in Hollywierd who say dumb things without even the benefit of a great script.
Which is another problem. The liberals that write it will take out all the good humor for either not being politically correct, or being not correct politically.
To paraphrase Zero Mostel in “The Producers” - “This play has to close on page four.”
Yeah, you could be right there. Certainly there will be SOME big curve ball.
I loved Green Acres, which means they will definitely mess it up.
Oh, for the love of....
Eddie Albert was a friend of my grandfather. I bet he’s rolling in his grave.
Mr Kimble was the County Agent.
He couldn’t remember it either.
It was axed on CBS (as other shows) at the time for being too “rural”.
I’m County Kimball your Hank Agent
