Idylwild, cooperating with Riverside County and the Forest Service, has spent the last several years clearing tens of thousands of dead trees, creating multiple egress routes and firefighter strike points, and dozing hundreds of firebreaks. The Idylwild fire was 80% contained by Monday, burning into unpopulated areas. The Carr fire, otoh, is still raging. The terrain is very similar between the two. Lessons to learn?
