Yes, we definitely live in the “days of Sodom”. Homosexuals have creeped into every facet of our lives, including some evangelical churches. But it is very rare and not endemic in evangelical churches (at least to this point). Why would a married man with kids want to rape kids? But if some corrupt leader imposed unnatural celibacy on the clergy, you would see great evil. Churches that stick with Gods Word, rather than the devices of man, have the Holy Spirit to help them avoid these things.
Agreed!!
What would it take to show you that EVERY institution human beings inhabit is thoroughly corrupt?
Funny, for folks who preach "total depravity" you act like "total" really means "highly selective and not on my street".
Wow...so you admit that the assault on kids will continue in this corrupt sodomite infested institution. You seem happy with this.?.? May God do a work in your heart!
I disagree. The Russian Orthodox Church (Eastern Catholic) does not have this problem. Priests can marry!
The Catholic Church has touched my family. Literally. I knew back then that men and women who never married and claimed their love for God by serving in celibacy was a misnomer. If you were gay, you went where the men were. If you were gay and loved little boys you went where the boys are. The total breakdown of the Catholic Church is due to lust and the ability to cover it up. This also proves that many gays are prone to paedophilia. Keep your children safe. Dump the Catholic faith.
I agree with you that the faith should not be indicted here. Catholics are not bad, or evil, and their/your religion is neither.
The problem comes when this stuff is discovered. Teachers are arrested. As are ministers and rabbis. They are certainly ostracized and banished from the jobs.
They may be repeat offenders, but their parent organization does not cover for them and place them into another location.
The distrust of the church is a distrust of their leadership, who have repeated the same behavior time and again.
Also there are lots of camp counselors and scout leaders that are both married and child molesters.
Celibacy can be a burden, but Jesus asks that we all take up our burdens and with His help they will be light.
The reason there are so many homos in the Catholic Church is not because celibacy is a hard sell, but because there were conscious efforts by homosexuals in the hierarchy to flood the seminaries with homosexuals. This happened mostly in the 60's and 70's.
If your church is not being undermined by the Devil and his minions, then maybe the Devil doesn't consider it to be a threat.
>> I agree with letting priests marry and allowing already married men become priests.
The church has never let men who have already been ordained get married. That’s not gonna happen.
But it could ordain men who are already married, and in fact, already does, sometimes. I belong to a parish of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, and our pastor is married. He was an Episcopalian priest, and already married when he converted to Catholicism. Five years later he was ordained a Catholic priest. He’s great.
However, witnessing the married Catholic priesthood up close for over five years now, I have to say I’m not a big fan of it. Our pastor and his wife make it work in their case, but I see the strain. I don’t think there are many couples who could make it work.
Greek Orthodox priests can NOT marry. If you were unmarried at the time of ordination, you remain a lifelong celibate.
However a married man can become a priest, and remain married.
It might seem like a distinction without a difference, but the order is important. If an Orthodox priest is single (or a widower), he cannot seek a wife.
I refuse to dig up dirt on other denominations.
Incidentally, the Penna AG’s report goes back to the 40’s. How many criminal indictments will come out of this?
Zero.
That’s because ~ 100 of the accused have already died, and in any case, the vast bulk of cases go back to the 70’s and 80’s, i.e. past the statute of limitations.
They did find two-— yes two-— from the past 10 years. And they had already been turned over for prosecution by their bishops.
OK, you might say, that’s PA. What’s the picture nationwide?
Nationwide, the percentage of priests who have had credible allegations is 0.0005%.
To be clear: one case is too many cases. If a case is the worst of the worst -— sodomy on a minor-— I think the filthy criminal pervert should be shot. Be he hierarch or lowerarch, it doesn’t matter.
That would be justice.
But concerning The Narrative’s generalization that the Catholic Church as such is a bestiary of boy-rapers -—
Well, that 0.0005% percentage is something decent people would be glad to know.

But... the problem is that he DID flee...
Absolutely correct. You look at all these indictments handed out in Pennsylvania alone and there is exactly one case of a priest diddling a young lady.
This is not a random chance happening when 95% to 98% of the general population is heterosexually inclined. It is about the 2% to 5% of the population targeting a profession because it gives them access.
BTW, I happen to believe that 2%, maybe even less, is closer to the truth.
If it exists on earth, it is.
the institution makes ungodly decrees (forbidding men to marry)
Nobody is "forbidden to marry" because nobody is compelled to enter the priesthood or religious life. Seminarians and others in the discernment process have plenty of chances to say "I can't hack celibacy, sorry".
The same person who wrote 1 Tm 4 also wrote: 8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain [so] even as I. ... 32 One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; 33 but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, 34 and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 35 This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but [r]to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord. 1 Cor 7:8, 32-35 [NASB]
How come celibacy is "ungodly" in 1 Tm 4 and highly praised in 1 Cor 7 ?
(Here's the answer. Paul wasn't talking about clerical celibacy in 1 Tm 4. He was condemning certain gnostic groups which did indeed forbid all of their followers from marriage.)
The "infallible Popes" have said repeatedly that homosexuals, even if chaste, do not belong in the priesthood!
The not-very-infallible American bishops, on the other hand, knew better.
If this isn't rectified they will lose many, many faithful.
I will disagree that public education doesn't do the same thing.
It's an open secret and has been going on for decades.
The Boy Scouts of America is another organization that is guilty of it. See "The Perversion Files".
And no, this isn't a defense of the Church with me saying "Well, they did it to!"
We are on the same page
The Church and all institutions, especially the leadership needs to be purged of homosexuals, predators and their enablers and the guilty need to go to prison.
Exactly. Couldn’t agree more.
