Depends on the wife.
As a youngster I remember playing golf on Hilton Head.
I hit a duck hook right into an alligator.
The gator gave me a seriously dirty look—guess they don’t like golf. :-)
Suddenly the wasps here in Dallas don’t seem like such a problem. Wow.......
20 years ago I was stationed in Beaufort SC and my next door neighbor was a chef on Hilton Head. He’d jog during his lunch break and one day passed a tourist with his son throwing a ball into a lagoon for their lab. My neighbor stopped and told the guy there were gators in there and he shouldn’t do that, the guy basically told him to mind his own business, it was a tourist area and there weren’t any gators there. My neighbor shrugged and jogged on, got to his turn around point and when he passed by the lagoon on the way back there was a police car there with the young boy crying. The dog had been attacked and killed by a gator.
Down here in Mississippi, we taught our kids and grand-kids to be observant for such potential hazards. After the daughter moved to Upstate NY, she had them out for a picnic at one of the lakes and they raised some eyebrows when they asked her if they had to watch for alligators...
Oh my gosh!!! How horrible!!! I just left Hilton Head the day before this happened!! All that I saw was dolphins and sea birds, thankfully!! Prayers for her family and friends.
Years ago, when I was in nearby Parris Island, the drill instructors warned us recruits not to try an escape, as the waters around us were filled with alligators. I thought at the time they were just messing with us. Guess not.
