I think it’s something that happens more in the South than in the rest of the country. I grew up in the Northeast and we were never taught to say “ma’am” or “sir”. We called all elders Mr., Miss or Mrs.
I hope the teacher pays a price for such stupid orders.
I want to clarify my previous post to ExTexasRedhead. After my post she PM’d me & clarified her post. I understand now why she wrote such a strong post. She has been involved for a long time and documented what she has seen. After mailing each other I realize we have a lot in common.
I applaud her for her activism. Education is in crisis & I don’t see a happy ending. So many things are too far gone. Unless of course there are a couple million ExTexasRedheads out there. And there aren’t.
I will toast her with a glass of wine tonight for her untiring work. L’chaim!
“damned if you do - damned if you don’t”
I would have been punished if I HADN’T called her ma’am. Because that’s the way I was raised.
How did you do that?
Not only that, he comes from an intact African American family teaching their son to be polite and productive...oh the horror!/s
Marcie always called Peppermint Patty “sir”—which drove Peppermint Patty nuts.
He should say “Yes, b***h”
Amen, Morgana. Did you see his picture? What an adorable, clean cut little gentleman. This boy has manners! That teacher is a clown. I would be livid!!
This is a charter school. The teachers are supposed to be the best of the best the system has to offer. Looks like we have a cowardly bully who belongs in an inner city public school with thugs referring to her as ‘ho’ and ‘bitch’ just before beating her to a pulp.
