All the Talk About Impeaching the President Is Nonsense
spectator.org ^ | 8/24/2018 | Dov Fischer

The television-news media desperately need to fill twenty-four hours every day in order to sell advertising to support their stations, their management, their employees, and their negotiated settlements and non-disclosure-agreement pay-outs to women whom they must silence after one or another of their male employees has violated them. CBS has had Charlie Rose. NBC Matt Lauer. With too much money, too much perceived power, many intelligent media-attractive women who benefit further from the daily efforts of world-class aestheticians and make-up artists, the ingredients are there. Certainly Fox News has had their share of pay-outs, too. And the thing is, we have no idea how many others also are being paid to shut up. So the television-news media have to keep the money pouring in. Same with the print media.

Would you watch TV news 24/7 to get the latest commodities reports on oranges? For how many hours daily? Unless you deal in oranges, probably not a whole bunch. How about “sweet crude oil” futures? It would have to be pretty sweet, indeed, to keep your attention. I am an Orthodox rabbi, and I cannot remember the last time I put down a volume of the Talmud to keep abreast of the latest prices on pork bellies.

So they have to figure out how to keep the ratings up.

-snip-

Even if the Democrats miraculously grab the Senate in November, there still would be at least 48 Republicans in the Senate. The Democrats would need to get 15-20 Republican Senators to vote with them to oust President Trump. Any Republican Senator who would vote that way would be signing his or her political death warrant — the end of his or her political career. They all know it. Therefore none of them would do it.

A long, but very good article.

It will not happen because we won’t let it happen.

I think this abuse of power by the dem socialists DAZI party and the deep state ( like sessions, mc Connell, Cronyn, mc Cain, etc ), has rallied real Americans to stand with Trump snd take this country back from hell.

According to Levin: The President can not be impeached for anything that occured before he was sworn in.

“Any Republican Senator who would vote that way would be signing his or her political death warrant — the end of his or her political career. They all know it. Therefore none of them would do it.”

Yes...They are special interest dead enders. Bought and paid for. They will have a better gig lined up if they are called on to fall on their sword and remove Trump. So that argument doesn’t hold water.

Look at how many in the GOP are still bucking the Trump agenda. How many have resigned rather than go along with it? A lot. How many still support the mueller coup? Most.

The author is painfully naive.

There are Republicans who long for the days when the GOP had a 160 seat minority in the House, could work 2 days a week, hope he could play golf with President Johnson, and not have to take any responsibility for anything.

Power is such a hard thing to do.

The biggest naivete is believing that “press is interested in ratings” nonsense instead of that they are the cancerous right arm of the Democrat Party and the corrupt establishment.

This whole thing is nothing more than the democratic playbook to unseat anyone they can in the midterm and 2020 and beyond. They did the same thing to Bush, and are doing the same thing to Trump. It all falls under the rules of socialism that they have practiced for over 50 years and they haven’t worked yet. Bush was re-elected, the GOP retained congress.

All they are trying to do is create a mass confusion and background noise. This is why they lose. They think if they aren’t winning, they must not deal with the points of the public but create nonsensical points for the public to be force fed. They are just making noise. There is no content because they are unable to as they have no message, no legitimate promises, and no campaign improvements. They have higher taxes, more government intrusion, and less services to the middle and upper classes as they don’t want their votes.

It’s all about getting elected. Not doing a job for your employers.

It’s both. It is ratings “and” being an arm of the Democrat Party. I’ll add that many media are complicit in the framing of Trump with the whole Russia collusion narrative and I’ll bet somebody inside the coup has names listed somewhere and so they are invested in getting rid of Trump before any of it gets out officially

The media is the deep state.

This week is where I finally decided that the Deep State is beyond corrupt, malign, and incompetent. They are crazy. Over the rainbow, truly gone fishing. Somebody’s taken their marbles away.

The media drumbeat to impeachment is not tethered to reality, let alone legality. The Special Counsel gameplan to go after the family of the President is beyond the pale for 1920’s Chicago.

This is uncharted territory except for maybe Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

Let's face it: The best thing Trump has going for him is that 99% of the media would be aghast at the thought of Mike Pence in the White House.

And politics is only a tiny part of their reasoning there. I don't think Pence's own family would tune into the TV news to hear what's going on with his administration.
