if the kids are bullied now, just think what will happen to them when they take off their clothes to toss’em in the washer

“I’m old enough to remember when only destitute kids would get free meals at school.”

I’m old enough to remember when NO ONE got free meals at school-—we all went home for lunch.

So, these are the only children in the country with the problem? Then neglectful parents is the problem.

Or you brought your own lunch to school. Remember the tin lunchboxes?

It is hard to believe that lucrative government entitlements are not enough to pay for a family to wash clothes. But if that’s the case, having washing machines at school for some of the kids is fine with me.

This school does not have enough money to pay for air conditioning? !?!

Unbelievable. I can guarantee you the overwhelming majority of money spent in this school is on ridiculous unionized teachers’ salaries, health care, and retirement benefits.

...

That makes sense if the purpose of public education is to subsidize liberals and Democrats.

Newark is Dumb@ss Spartacus Booker’s stomping ground, the home of his imaginary friend, “T-Bone.” Hey Spartacus, what the h*ll have you been doing to help this troubled school? Oh, that’s right: nothing!

It is effing TIME to start a campaign to insist that parents stop having sex until they can afford the next kid. A little breakfast and dinner, clean clothing. Doctors are free already for the poor. There is WIC already. If you can’t wash a kid’s outfit and give him enough underwear for 5 days, you have no business having that child. Why respect these animals by taking away all responsibility from them? It WILL NOT MAKE THEM MORE RESPONSIBLE. Next there will be free daycare outside crack houses and bars.

this is very true... social work theory has latched on to the idea that if you remove children from their useless parents they will suffer from attachment issues. This has been disproven time and time again... and still they leave these kids to become a second generation of de-socialized citizens, who frequently develop personality disorders. One begins to believe the idea, that the prison industrial complex is behind this deterioration.

And what exactly can the school do? They can report it to authorities but they have no ability to remove kids from their homes... so you would say they should do nothing other than report it?

To hell with doing what you can do to help a kid in a bad situation.. I reporterd it, kids on their own from that point in. Mom’s a drug addict and neglectful, but authorities won’t remove the kids from the home? Well too bad, let’s not do anything at all to try to help a kid stuck in that situation.

Strange, I was thinking the same. Where do they put the naked kids? Oh, I don’t know, I guess it’s just how so so excited the sweet principal was to be on Evelyn’s show, and how quickly she saw the perfect person to exhibit. I guess it’s just me.
Mainly thinking how easy it is to wean small children away from their parents. I’m very old and my early childhood was about as primitive as you can get. but I have fond memories of my family and our struggles. I have little to no memories of school or teachers. That was when America was family & community oriented. WWII started the movement of the country from it’s roots. Would it ever be possible to find a way to rediscover a family/community oriented country? Only by destroying the government control which starts at school. JMO.

I am old enough to remember when NO ONE got free meals at school-—we all went home for lunch.*****

Those of us who lived too far from school to walk home brought sack lunches, which was most of us. It was also common for us to bring extra in case someone didn’t have a lunch for some reason. Also, it was nice to trade something with someone else. My mom always put a lot of fruit in mine, so I would trade some of my fruit for another girl’s home made chocolate cake. Fruit was hard to come by at her house, and cake only happened on birthdays at mine.

And then there was a time when this kid kept stealing my lunch. I suspected a certain kid, but couldn’t prove it. So, my mom gave me money to eat at the cafeteria, and I made my lunch myself. I made a canned catfood sandwich with canned catfood, cellery, onion and mayonaise.

At lunchtime, my lunch was gone, as usual, but I went right on down to the cafeteria as planned. When I returned to class, I approached the kid I suspected and asked him if he had enjoyed my lunch. When I told him what the sandwich was, he turned white as a sheet. He realized I wasn’t kidding him.

I never had a missing lunch after that. He was a chunky child, and he did have a lunch of his own, so for him to take mine was gluttony.

Academia has lost their focus. The educational system has failed to educate the students.

It is not the responsibility of the schools to feed, clothe, and shelter the students. It’s purpose is to educate them. Teach them reading, writing, and arithmetic so that they can have the tools needed to further educate themselves and make intelligent decisions.

Providing free meals, clothes washing machines, and various computers are not the answers. They are things used by educated people to add value to their lives not a source of academic knowledge.

Give the same things to cavemen and watch what happens. Fail to teach students the academic basics and watch what happens, The outcomes are similar.

We are graduating students today who cannot read or write the King’s English or compute the correct value of two numbers. Like someone said (about a certain NFL quarterback), “He couldn’t spell C-A-T if you spotted him the C and T”.

Of course it will solve the problem...the exact same way strict gun laws cured the problem of killings in Chicago.
