What to do with illegal aliens and 'refugees' who come to the west for jobs and a better life?

What happens when we don't have jobs for them and they still keep coming by the millions?

Great, then we won’t need to import products from China etc because we will have our own cheap labor. Think of the money we will save.

I don't mean to belabor the point, but I do think “this time it's different”.

Once upon a time there were 2 guys: Bob and Fred. Bob was smart and he had a farm and made important decisions. Fred was dumb. He just plowed the fields. Up and down. Up and down. Up and down. Life was good.

Farming became increasingly automated. A factory opened up, making tools and consumer goods. Bob became a foreman. He made decisions and told people what to do. Fred just worked the assembly line. Tighten the nuts. Tighten. Tighten. Tighten. Life was good.

Heavy industry started to fade, but they opened up an office park. Bob became office manager. He hired and fired and he watched the bottom-line. Fred sat in a cubicle and typed reports. Type. Type. Type. Life was good.

High tech automation came along, and robots started doing everything. Bob remained an office manager and watched the bottom-line. Do you think Fred is out in the field repairing high-tech robots and re-programming their circuit boards?? When has Fred ever shown such ability?

What they are saying, I think, is that half of all jobs existing today will be replaced by machines by 2025.

Fact is, 99% or more of all jobs have already been replaced by machines.

The “Basic Income” will happen soon, and will grow as fast as unemployability.

I’d rather the Malthusian principle, because then we would be evolving.

That’s a large work force that entrepreneurs can find a use for. Assuming the government let’s them. If the government’s going to take 3/4 of the profit and give a basic income to those who need jobs there’s less incentive to come up with new products or services.

If the government stops entrepreneurs from profiting, maybe Michael Moore, Warren, and all their pals in hollywood can give up profit and start companies to find new businesses where only employees make money.

They will get rid of Bob too, because he won’t have anyone to manage. The computer at head office will give the financial reports he used to run directly to management, probably with commentary.

Get agricultural mechanized. Especially since thousands of illegals invade here to work for the slave owner businesses.

Indeed. The standard view of automation is that farms will just have machinery and factories will just have robots. That's largely true.

What many do not see is that computers are already having a heavy impact with lawyers and with finance workers. The machines are better than the people for some of these knowledge-based jobs. This is not just a "blue-collar" problem. A lot of people with expensive degrees are becoming superfluous.

“Ok genius
Invent a robot to put in solar systems. My job.”

Yes! That’s what I say. I’m a chimney sweep, and they will never make a robot that can sweep chimneys!

You and me brother! Solar Panel Installers and Chimney Sweeps. Where I go, you go!

And I think my wages are going to go UP UP UP! Good times!

(credit to the buggy whip meme)

Hope you have retirement well endowed, Truthoverpower.

Most of the population already sit at desks and stare at computers which do most of the work. Sad.

Many mundane tasks could easily be moved to robots.
95% of Semiconductor fabrication is done by robots and there is still a huge need for Engineers and Techs.
They don’t need sign flippers or panhandlers.

I wouldn’t mind a bot that could install, configure, support, and repair printers.

Keep in mind that Robots are building your solar panels.
They are perfect for doing one thing over and over.
As an installer, you deal with constantly different conditions.

One works for robots, the other doesn’t.
Robots have been doing work painting cars and building semiconductors since the 80’s

Next area for robots is harvesting crops.
Grains should be very easy.
Grapes and fruit, a bit more difficult but not impossible.

Without Indians, you don't need the Chiefs...no matter how heavy their coup sticks.
