I recently re-watched the 1948 movie “The Naked City,” which was shot in NYC and had numerous scenes filmed with unacted everyday life, probably the last film like it before TV and air conditioning drove people indoors, and having to only use paid extras meant everyone was acting.

Re The Naked City, the Williamsburg Bridge sure dopesn't look like that anymore. The name of the film and its neo-realism style was supposed inspired by Weegee.
