There are alligators in North Carolina, so the cold doesn’t affect them much. They burrow under the ground in a riverbank and hibernate...................

Alligators are surprisingly capable of surviving in the cold. Here are some that live at 8000 ft in Colorado.

Nope. Alligators can survive even when the surface is frozen by sticking their ssnouts above the water while the water freezes.

Gators will just 'winter over" at the discharge pipes at out numerous steam and Nuclear plants. Other critters have done it so it may get a little crowded(ring the dinner bell)

Alligators can survive in cold temps. They can’t reproduce in them though. I doubt alligator populations can be sustained in Tennessee. However if there are just one or 2 springs that are warm enough over about a 10 year period, they possible could. They do well in coastal NC. That’s a warmer climate though.
