Robert De Niro thanked law enforcement for "protecting us" after his New York City restaurant was the target of a suspicious package discovered Thursday. Several similar parcels have been sent to the homes and businesses of various Democratic politicos beginning on Wednesday.
In his statement to Fox News, the actor praised authorities for their brave actions in keeping people safe.
"I thank God no one's been hurt, and I thank the brave and resourceful security and law enforcement people for protecting us," De Niro said.
He added, "There's something more powerful than bombs, and that's your vote. People MUST VOTE!"

In regard to Donald Trump, De Niro acts and sounds like a character he has played in a film, Al Capone. Clearly he takes his enmity for President Donald Trump personally, vociferously, and rather childishly. I see this also with most of Trump’s more intractable critics.
This is not expressed by those former never Trumpers who make an effort to recognize the real achievements Trump has clearly has made. Those critics have been able to put in perspective Trump’s reaction and push back to the vicious and slanderous attacks he has been receiving almost daily. They may not approve of Trump’s style or choice of words, but it is what it is, and they seem to have gotten a grip. Time to grow up, Robert.
It has been two years now since the 2016 election. It is well time for adults to realize that Trump is not Hitler, and not the idiotic character that has been created for his enemies to hate. Based on real standards, and not partisan talking points, Trump is not racist, authoritarian, foolish, or an idiot. Trump has actually made more positive contributions in two years, including in the area of race relations, than Barack Obama even attempted to make in 8.
We have all been through kind of a political and emotional hell in the last months, and so with the coming election, regardless of its outcome, perhaps it is time to lay to rest this insane TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) and find a way to live with the encouraging new events unfolding that can benefit us all. Americans should be able to all agree to that.

I love this guy as an actor, but he is unhinged, and ill informed.
Probably has to do with all the arugala he, Babs and Obama smoke for diner.
Bobby De is just going to have to give up this Mafia-boss persona if he wants to be taken seriously as a spokesman for ANYTHING.
Even “Capo di tutti capi” has been gracious and even pleasant in conversations with “civilians”. Bobby De would do well to emulate and cultivate this aspect of his public performances.
