Among many other things, when they gave up their Empire, they let way to many uneducated people of very different cultures from their overseas colonies into the country.
Of course, the losses of treasury and men in two world wars cost them their Empire and the creeping socialism from Europe aided in the destruction of the UK, financial, militarily, spiritually, etc.
They need to arm and train their cops.
