Incredible!

Very different tone than in the past.

There is no doubt what you are joining (a military intended to kill people and break things - a war fighting force) and the focus is on service and teamwork, not what is in it for you.

Good commercials!

Of the three “Warriors Wanted” spots tagged as active, only the one of with the towed artillery has an obvious female. And at that, she is shown talking on the radio in the vehicle and prone in the grass with a carbine. She might be doing something to a wheel — perhaps locking it or adjusting a lug nut — but the activity is not clear. She’s not training or elevating the piece or humping/loading the heavy rounds. That’s real life: For the most part, it’s the male service members who do the heavy lifting, get injured less, and enhance combat effectiveness. The females can’t do the heavy lifting, get injured more, and reduce overall combat effectiveness. The females do satisfy the PC social justice goal of equality of outcomes, regardless of sex, but it’s a high price to pay for being stylish.

I did numerous combat tours, the first being OIF1 and 2 where I went in with 3ID and stayed with 1AD in Baghdad for 18 months.

1AD lost more soldiers from pregnancy that either could not deploy or had to be sent home early than from all hostile activity combined (IEDs, RPGs, mortars, snipers). Roughly 1/3 of the females either did not deploy or were sent home early. Put that in a Hollywood female super macho hero film (LOL).

Yes, it’s a farce. But, shhhhhhh don’t say it to loud. You’ll be a bad guy. Watch some Star Trek or GI Jane, Hollywood will set you straight.

That said, women can and do serve a function/role in the military. Where they can serve and do serve well is in non-combat roles, i.e. medical, strategic intel, air traffic controllers... Many of them are smart, and they can do those jobs well. There are a lot of jobs they can do, but because we are trying to “force” this equality and “force” statistical representation in areas where physical attributes/performance matter, they end up with a limited usefulness. A mortar base plate doesn’t get any lighter if if it’s a woman carrying it. Nor does a 155 shell or Javelin missile. So what really ends up happening is that they wear the patch and get told they are equal but the guys do all the heavy lifting, quite literally.

The real problem is that society lives in an industrial and information age (post industrial). Most people as they have their teaching job, sit at a desk, work in a bank, or operate a register, do not realize that there still are jobs in this world where being bigger and stronger, being able to carry lots of shit on your back cross country and then still dig a hole and fight is what it’s about. A loader in a tank is taking 45 pound rounds and flipping them, stuffing them into that breech after pulling them from the ammo bunker in the turret rear. If he’s a bad ass loader, he’ll do the trick in 3 seconds (and he usually has an upper body). Sorry, it’s discriminatory, but it’s reality. But no one has the guts today to come out and say that.

I think the dumbest military ad of all time was the one touting “an army of one!” I just laughed and said the way how the military is fast becoming so PC that most people would prefer to stay out - thus leading to the very depleted Army (of one).

Can’t find the video of some female in an arty unit loading rounds - I was going to post it to you for your comment. Don’t remember if was US or some other army. May have been some staged footage - I have no way of knowing.

Those 80s ones “be all you can be” were the best ones.

I’m a retired Field Grade Army Officer. All you say is spot on correct. And yet not a thing has been done to correct the lunatic Obama era experiments forced on the military. Mattis sits on his hands and allows the destruction from within to proceed at pace.

The Army of One was the military version of New Coke.

I am deeply, deeply offended by these ads.Not a single “gay” or “transgendered” to be seen. How dare the Army marginalize these fine, brave, loyal Americans!!!

Saw them during a football game. I loved them!

Retired 1SG Jumpmaster here. Seen the first girls assigned to the 82d Abn Div and know the difference between a combat arms trooper and the RIMFs to man a distinction between different males and support soldiers. BCT vs BT is a definitive separation point in military indroctnation. Saw men and women in administrative MOS with different duty expectations yet men promotion rates not reflective of actual performance.

Worked for a CINC as well as XVIII ABC Cdr as SGS NCOIC. Discussions with both indicated that promotions were simply a function of first racial and gender preferences, and each race whether male or female competed within their slice of the promotion pie. Essentially you got a more competitive white male and female selection rate due to affluent education than in other minorities- you compete as a black female against only other black females (etc.) on any board. Combat Arms suffers from this balance but Leadership pushes and is recognized by one and all as good or bad.

I sure do miss those AFKN and AFN commercials overseas, a rape sp pi t 8 times during a football game is a bit much.

"1AD lost more soldiers from pregnancy..."
"If he’s a bad ass loader, he’ll do the trick in 3 seconds"

No correlation, I'm sure !)

Sorry, I don’t like them. Going around shooting up the world in our current environment isn’t the path of selflessness and freedom. And such shoot’em up visuals and soundtracks aren’t going to attract our best, shall we say.

I of course wasn’t a fan of the “army of one” commercials either. But these seem done in a way that will both alienate casual viewers from our military and pull in the worst psychopaths in our country.

I want our military to be warriors, but reluctant warriors. Not those who get their jollies from it.

"I always hated those “Army of One” commercials.

You mean the ones where no one is carrying a weapon, or the one with the guy running in the opposite direction, probably to find his weapon. Yea, those were a joke.

If you are reluctant, then you are as good as dead. The Army is about killing efficiently or holding ground.

Good insights, and similar to mine as a Naval Aviator when women were starting to be assigned to the fleet replacement (training) squadrons, but not yet to ship’s companies or fleet squadrons. They worked hard and overall had better attitudes than the men. The problem is that they had high fail-to-deploy rates due to pregnancy, higher injury rates, and struggled as plane captains to shoulder the heavy tiedown chains, lug metal chock bars, and position tow bars. Also trouble hauling replacement electronics boxes from the shops below up to the flight deck; the men usually did. None served as ordnancemen or engine, structural, or hydraulic mechanics — just too physical. Don’t know what it’s like with women now integrated into ship’s companies and fleet squadrons, but assume the readiness and effectiveness problems have just been extended to more ratings (MOS’s).

My wife and I still laugh about the AFN commercial of the rocking coke machine about to tip over, We will rock you...... And you are absolutely correct about promotions being based on ability last, how you look and how you pee first.
