From "The Undiscovered Country," "I Heard the Bells" by The Train Band. The Civil War is one of my study areas, so I've always loved this carol.
And if you enjoyed the movie Kirk, then perhaps you'd also like a non-carol - Frank Sinatra's "I Did It My Way" for Shatner/Kirk in the movies.
“I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” is one of my favorite Christmas carols, but it only works if it includes the two verses relating to the Civil War, as the video does. Otherwise, it’s just another holiday ditty. And it should be sung to the tune “Waltham” (1872), as it is in the video, and not to that insipid melody written by the guy who wrote “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Are you another Civil War researcher? I’m in alt over Joshua Chamberlain’s books, and the autobiography of Longstreet.
Best version of this i ever heard was The December People’s version. Only one I enjoy listening to.
Wow. I tried. I really tried. I couldn’t finish listening. Each to their own.
What the h? What does Star Trek have to do with these songs?
Apophenia can be the first stage of schizophrenia. Might want to get that checked out.
I’m sorry for your aggression. It must make you very unhappy.
There’s a large fandom for video makers who reinterpret the poetry of music in the context of some video. The challenge is making the reinterpretation so natural it will feel that the lyrics were written for that context. It takes imagination, but it’s tremendous fun and an absolute joy to share with people with imagination.
My style of video making is one of 3 academic styles. It relies on the viewer being knowledgable about the video environment, so not all viewers get off on all videos.
I’m sure that there’s a whole realm of thought that you’ll enjoy, if not this. But you really need to think about why you feel a need to insult someone you don’t know.
I'm a member of the Orange County (Calif.) Civil War Round Table, which meets each month in Costa Mesa for dinner and a presentation on some aspect of the war.
VERY EXCITING! Sounds absolutely wonderful. I used to carry Chamberlain’s books around with me to read in random moments. They still give me goosebumps. Visited his grave. Simply awed by the man.

Great grandfather was one of the special judge advocates at the Lincoln assassination trial. He was brought to DC to run the investigation for Stanton and wrote up the records later for the Library of Congress.

This was a paper he wrote on his memories - basically defending General Hancock and Judge Holt.

Would love to hear about your meetings.

Thanks for the links.
The Civil War Round Table meets at Coco’s Restaurant on Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa on the second Tuesday of the month. After dinner, we begin our meetings with the flag salute, using a Civil War-era flag. This is followed by a presentation, usually a lecture with Powerpoint slides. Last month’s presentation was on Mary Ann Bickerdyke, a famous nurse who served with the Union Army.
The Civil Warriors is another such group that meets out in the San Fernando Valley at a delicatessen. Their programs are similar, but I’ve only been to one of their meetings because it’s a 50-mile drive from my home.
Would that I could. Boston area.

If you ever start a ping list to send out links for your monthly topics, put me on it.

Thank you, Fiji. You’re very kind.
Yes. Some used to mock his acting, but he is a stage actor, and there exaggeration is a frequent necessity.
He was exceptional in The Brothers Karamazov.
Are you then suggesting that Charles Ives had apophenia?
If so, it certainly did not prevent him from being successful in composition as well as insurance.
