I have noticed that while playing a movie through my iPad on the tv sometimes the dialogue triggers a “hey Siri”

This reminds me of the story about the lady who wanted to buy a parrot. She went to a pet store which had several that were well over $1,000, and one for $35. The owner explained that the $35 parrot had come from a house of ill repute and had questionable language, but that she could return it if it didn't work out. The lady decided to take a chance and save $1,000.

When she got home, she removed the cover over the cage.

The parrot squawked "Awk, Awk, New Madam."

Thinking that wasn't so bad, she decided to try keeping it for a while. Later that afternoon her two daughters arrived home from high school.

The parrott saw them enter the room, and squawked "Awk, Awk! New girls.

Thinking that was still acceptable, she started making dinner for the family. A short time later, her husband arrived home from work. He opened the door, and the parrot aquawked even louder

"Awk, Awk! Hello Frank!"

“I work in cybersecurity, mostly as an auditor and penetration tester. I will not allow any Alexa / Echo or other listening device in my house - period.”

While I was working as a Customer Service Rep, and not ever having been in any Tech position, I would still tell folks I knew that I wouldn’t have anything in my house or car that could listen to me.

It is just staggering how people in general believe that nothing that they can, or watch will be known by the government unless they want the government to know about it.

I tell folks, “if it can hear you, it can spy on you.”

Still, cannot get the folks to accept that as a possibility.

Sigh.
