How did the Far Left destroy Illinois' finances like that? Illinois is seeing people move out of the state like NY, NY, CA, CT, NH, ME.
Illinois was a swing state back in 2000-----George Bush and Al Gore were contesting the Land of Lincoln.
What really happened there----I only have small family there---haven't been to IL in 12 years, but what really happened?

A combination of epic-level Demonrat fraud and control (in IL, especially, the complete control by the corrupt bipartisan Combine), the rise of social leftism in the formerly heavily middle/upper class GOP suburban areas (not just in CA & IL) over the past 25 years and demographic changes with legal (nevermind illegal) immigrants favoring the Demonrats by a wide margin. All a perfect mix for national suicide, or at least pushing us closer to Civil War II: The Die-Versity Bugaboo.
Not to mention the loss of 100,000+ people fleeing the state. Probably largely R’s.
Yes, and once they leave, the state flips their registrations to Demonrat (just like the dead). I’m glad the father-in-law of my ggg grandfather, one of IL’s Founding Fathers, didn’t live to see this madness.

I saw my neighborhood change, overrun by south of the border types, after GW was elected. That is what happened in Illinois.
Illinois GOP fell apart after the 1980 state constitution change led by Michael Quinn which eliminated cumulative voting of state representatives and minority party representation in each district.
Bush contested it though. He really wanted IL, CA to have a bigger landslide.
Massive debt, keeping their government afloat, is what happened.

The Uni-Party aka The Combine is designed for mutual ass covering by politicians who work for their own interests above the interests of the voters/taxpayers. The Speaker if the House is the defacto Governor and wields ultimate power, and has done so for decades. It is not repairable. Revolt or bolt and those who can, bolt.
What happened is the urbanization of America. As Chicago grows in proportion to the rest of the state, it controls the politics. Plain and simple.
