Bill Murray is an exception
I thought Watson shooting at bees was actually funny
I walked out of Dune at Times Square with my girlfriend
Ive watched it since...odd movie
I’ve tried watching Dune.
Never could.
I guess it’s too far out there for me.
I suppose.
There were actually quite a few funny scenes. It started out funny when the other kids at school were picking on him including the girl he was sweet on who helped fool him into kissing a donkey's behind. So he used his superior observation and reasoning skills to get all of the other kids expelled from the school.
I was a little tired out and we had seats at one of those theaters with the super comfortable recliners, so I actually did fall asleep during part of the film, but my wife woke me up when I started snoring. But everything that I saw was innocuous compared to the typical films Hollywood puts out these days. I am not sure why this one has been the target of numerous threads complaining about how bad it is with mostly people who haven't seen it commenting.
That is because regardless of the Hollywood elite going into full banzai attack mode against this film, audiences find a lot of the gags pretty funny. Hollywood critics hate any film that is just fun and not promoting leftist ideals. It is interesting to me how many freepers are parroting the critics in this case. If they don't like slapstick silliness that is fine, but why all the vitriol against an almost completely innocuous film?
He was the one who adhered most closely to the original books.
No. I guess I’m too old to enjoy that type of entertainment.
Obnoxious indeed. But with Williams and Carrey it was most likely something neurochemical, like bipolarism. Ferrell is just an [censored].
Sci fi’s version of Dune was better than the movie(some of the cgi and matte paintings needed work). The Sci fi channel’s version of Children of Dune was exceptional(and the cgi and settings were much better). Leto II(in the sequel) was James McAvoy who was astonishing to watch as a young actor in 2003 (He played the young Xavier in Xmen Days of Future Past and Deadpool 2)
I thought Akroyd and Belushi were both pretty good.
“Toga! Toga! Toga!” “We’re on a mission from God.” “Cross the Streams!”
Maybe I’m just easily amused.
BTW, Bill Murray’s Ghostbuster role had been written for Belushi, who had the poor taste to go and die and deprive us of his humor.
I much prefer the SciFi channel miniseries to the film, which I thought was terrible.
I didn’t think either one was self-explanatory - if you had never read Dune, I’m not sure how you would have understood what was going on.
Do you have any idea where I could get a copy of the Children of Dune miniseries?
Best Buy or Amazon....I have seen it on sale as a Blue Ray. I don’t know if Amazon Prime or Netflix has it for streaming or not. But if you get a chance to watch an early McAvoy bit of acting...I think he was outstanding!
