Well, he was there!

He played the record producer who turned them down, and was also dressed as an ‘old’ Wayne from ‘Wayne’s World’ who caught Freddie’s eye.

I remember that (Yes, I am old).

It was disgusting — and terrifying for a young child.

If it’s of any consolation, the film didn’t depict homosexuality as being good at all (actually, if anything, it depicted Freddy Mercury’s adoption of the lifestyle as the start of his problems, including alienating his friends and loved ones, adopting various negative personality traits, ruining his relationship with his girlfriend, etc., etc., and that’s not even getting into how it ultimately killed him via AIDs. In fact, the only other major gay character in the film, Paul Prenter, was the closest the film had to the main villain, considering he used Freddy for his own gratification, basically was a weasel who sold out his friends for the mistakes he made, and was the person second-most responsible for Freddy’s downfall, with Freddy himself obviously being the most responsible for that.). Granted, Ravi Malek implied that this was more due to time constraints rather than intentional, but hey, even accidents lead to much better results sometimes, and this is one of those even better accidents if you ask me. If anything, God WOULD approve of this movie precisely BECAUSE it effectively condemned homosexuality and depicted it as not being good at all.

“I’m with that other poster. I’m not into faggotry at all. I read about that Beale Street movie on IMDB. Saw the word racism. Not interested in that movie now. Yes, racism exists today and is shameful, but I don’t need another Hollywood treatment of it.”

As I and another user pointed out, the film at least painted homosexuality in a very bad light in addition to keeping it to a minimum. For example, the film makes it very clear that Freddy Mercury’s adherence to homosexuality was what started his downfall, and ruined several of his relationships and made him really unlikeable by the midpoint, and that’s not even getting into his getting AIDs because of it and dying. Not to mention, the only other gay character in the film, Paul Prenter, was depicted in such a negative light that he was the closest the film had to a villain, since he was pretty much largely responsible for Freddy Mercury’s downfall, up to and including the breakup of Queen, basically used Freddy for his own gratification (including hiding information from him about Mary Austin’s contacting him and especially the Live Aid concert plans) and blaming others for his mistakes (in fact, if you colored him black, you’ve pretty much got Barack Obama regarding Paul Prenter). Of course, then again, Ravi Malek implied that was an accident due to time constraints, but, sometimes accidents produce the best results.

At least it’s not like Supergirl or Roswell, New Mexico on the CW where they treated gay as a good thing, or for that matter When We Rise on ABC, which clearly painted gays in a positive/sympathetic light.

Not to diss the actor who played him, but Cohen would have made it much more interesting.

And accurate.

Baron Cohen would have worked every wild rumor into the movie and made the movie more about himself than the character he was playing.

Just my opinion, but the last thing the world needs is another Sacha Baron Cohen film.

Like I said after the Golden Globe wins. Rami Malek will win an oscar for best actor in a leading role.

Bohemian Rhapsody will not win an oscar for best picture because of the allegations against Singer.
