Many of them are fruits. Just sayin'...
[Vegetables are what food eats.]
LOL
Point well taken.
For myself vegan recipes and meat substitutes work well since I dislike most vegetables and am milk intolerant.
The important part is eating a balanced diet. The question should be what food group and in what proportions are best for your individual diet needs.
any diet that requires the addition of synthetic B-12 in order not to die can’t possibly be “natural” OR healthy ...

We’ve been fed so many diet lies over the years. Check out the carnivore diet. From what I’ve been reading, people feel absolutely wonderful eating only meat. Sound strange?
My husband and I are doing Keto which incorporates a lot of fatty meats. Both of us have lost weight....he’s lost 80 pounds in a little over a year. We both have had excellent results with our blood tests....doctors happy.
He wants to go all carnivore for a couple of months to try it.
I’ve noticed over the years that veganism works perfectly fine for some, but not all.
Doesn’t work for me, but I try to go vegetarian most of the time, including eggs and fish. And milk in my coffee.
I figure it's likely that we were designed to eat what is easiest for us to catch. Plants don't run away so root vegetables, berries, fruit and nuts should make up a large part of the diet. Not ALL of it. Bugs, grubs, eggs, fish, birds and small game need to also be a part of it. There would be no fat people if everyone had to subsist on a "Natural" diet. Imagine the amount of work it would require to obtain the calories in one Big Gulp or pint of ice cream if you couldn't just drive to the store and buy it.
In which case, the paleolithic diet is probably the healthiest.
One reason why so many vegans are so thin: when the only food you are allowed to eat is tasteless crap, you don't eat. You go around chronically hungry and irritable.

Awesome!
Yeah, I think so.
The most healthy vegan I ever saw was a girl from India who sat opposite of me in an oversized cubical I had at a client. We went to dinner a couple of times - she definitely stayed right on track. When we ate lunch together, she’d get those big mushroom caps, etc.
But I think she was raised that way her whole life. (obviously) - American vegans never look healthy to me.
My personal opinion is that, pre-agriculture, the human race really took off when somebody invented the fish trap. High quality protein, gathered without expending a lot of energy.
“I know a lady who went from perfectly healthy to becoming a Type 1 Diabetic who has to wear an insulin pump 24/7 as a result of a vegan diet.”
Shhhh, don’t publicize it...we don’t want other vegans to know the dangers.

Oh, now I must post one of my favorite scenes from “Lost” - It’s very well-done. And since it’s ABC, it’s pagan - of course. (well, it gave me an excuse to post it)

The man in black - Charlie Sheen ran into him in “Navy SEALs”.
“and don’t even start of the tummy troubles”
You need 4 for a vegan diet to be of
any benefit. You might also consider
chewing your cud. That may help.../s
Im your age, lifelong gym rat and vitamin eater. Apparently those things pay off in the long run.
Ive always been a one meal a day guy.. with some snacking. A year ago I decided to clean up that act and eliminate the snacks. Also incorporated a one day per week total fast. Essentially, I fast 20 hours every day with one 44 hour fast per week. Its good, very good.
My workout has evolved to a HIIT similar.
“vegan scones on Christmas morning. Very sweet of her, but they were like dirt chunks.”
In one of Anthony Bourdain’s books, he describes being invited to a vegan shindig in Berkeley where everything tasted like (in his words) “caulking compound” ... he went on to say that he never worried about insulting vegans because they were so sickly he could always outrun them ...
“The extremely low carb, high protien diet (essentially all the meat fit to eat) is great. Eat a few greens, a lot of meat and drop the sugar numbers. Kind of a reverse vegan diet. I have no complaints at this time, the butcher at my local farmers market loves it.”
your doc is absolutely correct ... and quite enlightened to go the diet route instead of medication route ...
