“How is that possible? The foods removed by a vegan diet don’t impact insulin as far as I know. Something else going on? Heavy drinker? “
Type I diabetes is an entirely different disease than Type II diabetes. Type I is an autoimmune disease of unknown etiology that destroys the Islets of Langerhan (the source of insulin) in the pancreas ...

Veganism is just another obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Thing about this lady that is so unusual is that she is a total Trump lady.
But what is really worrisome is vegans who impose this diet on their babies.

Unsafe assumption.
It was caused by her vegan diet.
You can go ask her yourself, she’ll be happy to tell you.

No, not even.
At the time this happened to her she was a Jehovah’s Witness, and the diet was related to that religion in some manner.

IMO, your blood type can affect how you do on different diets.
People with Type A blood do very well on vegetarian diets. I’m not sure about a vegan diet, because it is so extremely restricted, not even allowing honey.
But people with Type O blood do better on diets with red meat included.

Although, years ago my brother to me to a bakery in Asheville. He brought out 2 fudge cupcakes & we ate them in the car. Afterwards he laughed & told me they were vegan. I dont know how they did it, but those cupcakes are the best cupcakes I have ever eaten. And I know & love baked goods. Go figure.......
I'm confused. The only non-vegan thing in most baked goods is eggs. Common substitutes can be mashed fruits, or a mix of oil/water/baking soda. Vegan baked goods aren't really going to be that bad compared to a non-vegan one.

My wife and I are beef cattle farmers.
My advice: EAT MORE BEEF.

Probably was not vegan but a vegetarian.
Vegetarian is a natural diet, a bit restrictive but you can be quite healthy on it if you balance it.
All dairy is allowed in a traditional vegetarian diet and that provides the nutrients that a vegan diet lacks.

I love vegetables, whole grains, legumes and meat. This woman's intestinal flora is probably deficient in addition to British diets being as bland as heck. Eat some yogurt, sauerkraut, kefir, and other fermented foods. Makes a world of difference.

All right, I see what you did there. :)

There’s also usually butter too. A friend told me that earth balance spread & or soft tofu is often used in vegan baked goods for moistened & texture.

Miss Anthony. Like Charles Barkley he said what he thought. And yeah, a vegan dinner party sounds about as much fun as a meal at Hardees, the grossest food place ever! Thanks for the Bourdain story ; )

Oh right I forgot butter isn’t vegan, just vegetarian. Still, ridiculous. Butter is used almost as much as bacon grease when cooking properly!

I tried a vegetarian macrobiotic diet when I was a college undergrad. I wish it had worked for me, because I enjoyed the food. However, it was not long before my body informed me that it was starving.
So, I decided to make a change. The first bite of prime rib was blissful, and was followed immediately by many more bites, also blissful. I couldn't stop eating until I ran out of meat. My body informed me that it was no longer starving.
That ended my vegetarian experiment.
