There are 3 rules

1) a gun is ALWAYS considered loaded

2) Never point it at anything you don’t want to die

3) finger off the trigger

Violation of all 3 resulted in death.

“Rising Country star” seems overly generous here. I’m a big country music fan and I never heard of the guy. Did he even have a charted hit?

Singer in the group Chicago suffered the blank fate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Kath

Terry Kath is who you are referring to:

Ironically, he killed himself as Chicago's hit "If You Leave Me Now" was climbing the charts. No, it wasn't Kath's vocal (it was Peter Cetera) but Kath's voice is the lead on songs like "Colour My World" and "Make Me Smile".

Lessons of this story guns aren’t toys. Also entertainers a crime don’t mix.

[Horsing around with a gun that he expected to be used in a music video he was going to be in? But dumb as a stump, so didn’t confirm that the gun was in a harmless state.]

Wild guess here, but my feeling is that this was a man who did not ordinarily touch, let alone fire, a gun. I’ve always treated guns like an extraordinarily sharp knife - with great care and a lot of respect for the damage it can do.

There was at least one YouTube indie filmmaker channel that explains how to do it. That was years ago.

I guess realism won and he lost.

Up-and-coming country singer Justin Carter has died after a gun accidentally
fired while he was filming a music video. He was 35.

Carters’ mother, Cindy McClellan, told Fox News her son was filming a music
video in Houston, Texas, on Saturday when a gun in his pocket “went off and
caught my son in the corner of his eye.”

“He was a wonderful artist,” McClellan said. “He was the voice, he was
the total package and we’re trying to keep his legend [alive].”
