In September of 2018, NJ2AS relaunched our signature initiative - Operation Establish Compliance X (OECX). We asked members to provide us tips on government agencies and police departments that were illegally adding additional requirements to the firearm application process, or unnecessarily adding excessive delays to the permit process.
The response was overwhelming.
Over the past several months, NJ2AS has led more undercover investigations to document and record the departments we received tips on to irrefutably capture the illegal requirements and delays from police departments that believe they are above the Constitution.
This week, NJ2AS will be filing a complaint with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and New Jersey Attorney General against the Jackson Township police department for their violation of state statutes and administrative code that requires applicants be fingerprinted every 2 years to apply for a handgun permit. A policy that specifically targets and discriminates against low-income individuals and minorities.

NJ, could not wait to get out of that crap hole. About 50 years ago, I made an application to buy a pistol (SW Mod 66). After getting the prints back, the issuing authority, the local chief, had me in for an interview (!) saying he was not sure why someone would want such a firearm. Furthermore, he was not sure he would approve it. My comment was I carry a SW 19 at work and if he did not sign the damn thing, I would just carry it 24/7 as I had for the past year his feelings notwithstanding. He approved it, reluctantly. What an ass.
Not that California was much better. Ten years later I found out the Sheriff in Contra Costa County would not approve anyone a carry permit! I told him fortunately for me, his being an ass about it did not over ride my fed authority.
I turned 18 in 1978 and promptly applied for a firearms ID card at the local PD in NJ. Nothing ever came of it. I inquired and was told to apply again. I figure they just threw out the application. Having gone off to school, I did not reapply. I moved to Maryland, which in 1982 was still somewhat sane regarding firearms.
These are NOT carry permits, you can’t get in NJ anyways, so don’t bother.
These are just FID Fire Arm Purchase IDs, used for buying hand guns and rifles.
They do not allow you to carry them outside the 4 corners of your property. If you do, you can face minimum of 10 years in prison.
How many criminals obey such a stupid law?
