People are different....some can eat sugar all their lives and not have a problem till they are 93 (my MIL - skin problems)...others have Type 2 diabetes...when they are 40.

the extra H2O from coffee make up for any ill effects from the bean grinds.

Well, no. Coffee is a diuretic. You’ll pump out more than what was in the coffee.

Coffee drinkers ... and particularly excessive coffee drinkers, are not couch potatoes.

Caffein and a lot of water makes you pee a lot, a cleansing activity, and forces you to actually DO something physical (another cleansing/strengthening activity)

I'm a retired trucker, which means I drank a lot of coffee to stay alert ....

Before I drove, I was into construction and sales .... both demanded long alert, awake hours ..... coffee.

MY heart is terrific !

My LUNGS on the other hand are shit from emphysema because of all the cigarettes I smoked over the years while working my ass off, drinking coffee.

I keep hearing that coffee (caffeine) is a diuretic but there is no science backing that up whatsoever.

Well lemme tell you, son. It is. Hate getting up to pee in the middle of the night? Drink a strong cup of coffee an hour before bedtime. The diuretic effect will have you pump out more than you drank. The go to bed.

Your body will spend a portion of the night reclaiming the water the coffee cost you, at no addition to your bladder. It just might be enough to let you sleep later, maybe even all night.

“Well, no. Coffee is a diuretic. You’ll pump out more than what was in the coffee.”

Then I must be a Mummy. Since I’m not, your claim must be false.

“Drinking caffeine-containing beverages as part of a normal lifestyle doesn’t cause fluid loss in excess of the volume ingested. While caffeinated drinks may have a mild diuretic effect — meaning that they may cause the need to urinate — they don’t appear to increase the risk of dehydration.”

So what if coffee is a diuretic. I don’t think the benefit from water comes from retaining it but rather from flushing it through your body. Which means being a diuretic may amplify the benefits of the water you get from coffee.

Besides you didn’t hear me say that this was a rationale right?

So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Remember when they said bacon causes cancer? What ever happened to that?!

Personally, I’d say bacon is worth the risk anyway :-)

I drink Trader Joes breakfast blend. Reminds me of the old Eat n Park coffee when it used to be good. No more than 9 cups a day for me.

Ah. The roller coaster of human science. Was is good today, is bad tomorrow. What is bad today, is good tomorrow. Sounds a lot like the poltical believes of a deep stater.
