A statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee was sold online for more than $1.4 million on Wednesday after it was removed from a Dallas park nearly two years ago over concerns the monument was racist.

The bronze statue drew a top offer of $1,435,000 from a bidder identified only as "LawDude," according to the Lone Star Auctioneers Inc. website. The second highest bidder, "MustangJerry," maxed out at $1,432,500 after placing 41 bids since the statue first went up for auction with a starting price of $450,000 on May 26.

To even bid they required you submit a substantial bond.

Hopefully the new owner will put it in a place where it can be seen and enjoyed.

Hopefully the new owner will place it on a high, protected palisade overlooking the city losers who removed and sold it. LIBs are lunatics.

The idiots at the Dallas City Council stipulated in the sales documents that the statue would not be displayed publicly. I think a wealthy lawyer purchased it. His response was probably “KMA!”

I hope you’re right about the “KMA”......that’s what we usually say after we “bless your heart”......;)

Not my taste, but a part of history. Explaining history is one thing. Trying to erase it is another.

If I was the buyer I would form and LLC, sell the statue to it, and have the LLC display the statue. Ef the leftists.

So now they plan to sell statues, and make a profit off of what they consider evil depictions????

P.S. 15 people out of how many were made to decide to remove it? What is the Population of the state of Texas? Something very wrong about this. I have no connection with the CW, I only view it as a period of the Nation’s History. Are we to redo Gettysburg and have the Union Statues facing empty space? Get over it, its in the past whether it was good or bad. Get a life and don’t dwell on soured history that no longer affects us. There will always be heroes and villains depending on which side was yours.

Put up a small sign with a tin cup.

"Private Exibition.

Paid Admission Only, 1 cent. Thank you."

I hope they put it in Fort Worth. Dallas is the most worthless city. Even the Cowboys won’t play in Dallas!

I’ve always liked statuary like that. The statue of Andrew Jackson in Jackson Square, New Orleans is my favorite. All we have around here are statues to commies like lenin.
