'Men in Black: International' has the worst opening ever for the franchise with just $28.5 million

Studios are learning this summer that audiences have no time for their tired franchises.

This weekend it's Sony that's taking the lumps as "Men in Black: International," the first "MIB" movie in seven years, opened with a franchise-low $28.5 million at the domestic box office.

The first "Men in Black" in 1997 previously had the lowest opening with $51 million, but back then that was really good. In fact, if you count inflation, that would be a $100 million opening today.

The $28.5 million performance, though number one at the domestic box office for the weekend, is below Sony's $30 million opening weekend projection, which most felt was a little too ambitious seeing how the weekend was shaping out.

Domestic box office is down 9.5% from last year and is even doing worse than 2017 (which was an awful year at the box office).

Everyone that put that movie on the table should be fired immediately.

Seems no more original ideas. They have to go do sequel after sequel or remakes. I’ve read where this movie is highly forgettable.

The LBGT lunatics wanted the studio to change the name to “Humans in Black”

There are so many reasons I don’t want to see this movie, I wouldn’t know where to start.

I haven’t seen it, but people have no time for political correctness. They don’t mind a good familiar story.

The first one was incredibly stupid and this one looks even stupider.

audiences have no time for their tired franchises.

I think audiences are tired of Hollywood taking old franchises and putting females in roles that were meant for a male actor.

They had already tried it with an all female Ghostbusters, it bombed. They did one of those Ocean heist films with an all female cast. I'm not sure how that did; but, I don't think it did as well as the male versions. So, now they do the same with the Men in Black franchise; and, it isn't doing well.

I have to wonder why they just don't come up with a vehicle for women that is original? Is that just too hard to do?

My wife and I are sick of any PC stuff showing up in everything.

We stopped watching multiple television series when they converted a regular to being LGBTQ (Fresh Off The Boat, The Last Man On Earth, etc.).

I encourage people to watch commercial free series from years ago without the PC/LGBTQ stuff in force. Strangely, this means House by Bryan Singer (that “gay rapist” of X-Men fame) has plenty of good shows to watch over again.

Otherwise, get outside or play interactive video games where PC is not likely.

I recall reading about that here a few days ago and suggested that these people would (or at least should) find the title to the movie “Working Girl” objectionable with the same sort of logic.

Very disappointing. I really liked the first three MIB movies.

Also a big bummer for Chris Hemsworth who also was in the Ghostbusters remake. It sounds like he was essentially emasculated in both roles. Too bad, because he plays a great Thor. Thor: Ragnarok is probably my favorite MCU movie.

From watching the trailer it seems as if the entire purpose of the movie was to prove how woke the MIB franchise is. It seems possible they crossed over from entertainment to SJW propaganda. Propaganda doesn’t sell well. Incidentally, it was Joseph Goebbels who said that, or something similar. He said that the primary purpose of successful propaganda was to entertain first and educate second.

MIB already had a white woman agent and it seemed to work well. To get around the US stereotype black woman (like the one in the “Ghost Busters” remake,) they made her British.

Die, Hollywood, Die!

Would any sane person have problems if Hollywood just dried up and left our world alone?

Would any of us really miss___________________ (fill the blank with any obnoxious Follywooder) just disappeared and stopped lecturing us how to live and vote?

The actress starring in it is a spectacularly vile individual.
