Research by the Department of Health, the Doherty Institute and Royal Melbourne Hospital shows that, between 2014 and 2017, 13 Australians who had been vaccinated still contracted the virus.
Medical experts suggest a third vaccination may be necessary to keep people immune.
The Royal Melbourne Hospitals Dr Katherine Gibney is an epidemiologist at the Doherty Institute and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.
She says because Australia has done such a good job at eliminating measles, people who have had only one vaccine arent getting a natural immunity boost as the disease isnt circulating in the community.
If you had been vaccinated and came into contact with someone with measles you might get a little natural boost in your antibody levels, said Dr Gibney.
The research, published in the Clinical Infectious Diseases journal, showed a number of people who were hospitalised with the disease had been vaccinated at least once in the past, but their immunity had waned over time.
The symptoms werent considered classic measles patients werent reporting fever, cough and runny nose - but they did have a rash.
Normally, if people have documented receiving two doses of measles vaccine we would be confident they wont contract measles, but thats getting greyer this research has demonstrated some vaccinated people are getting measles, Dr Gibney said.

Got an MMR booster last month.
One more reason we don’t NEED more illegal immigrants.... and we need a government that protects us
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
I had my immunity checked recently. Luckily, I don’t need another vaccine for MMR, but I need to finish my Pneumonia vaccination this year.
Contracting measles as a child ha ALWAYS been the best course.
10,000 years ago it was deadly to almost everyone. But the survivors bred offspring with limited immunity.
We have to preserve that by having measles parties. We owe it to our posterity.
MMR never did confer immunity, no mutation needed.
Do not believe the evil government minions
Do you not inject yourself with unknown poisonous into your bloodstream
Please notice that all of the vaccines mandatory push bullshit is in New York and California currently
Whered its not liberals - its Marxist nut cakes that run the show!
oh great....big pharm will be able to get their govt stooges to push for mandatory NEW vaccines for everybody...big $$$$$$$
I think they have been telegraphing this for the last several months. Just look at how many articles have been posted here for those same months. They have known for some time that all of the reprobates crossing various world borders and all of the disease that crosses with them and all of the new strains of disease would overwhelm that which we all but eradicated. They have known that the old vax regimes were not going to hold. They have been pushing 'boosters' but are they really boosters which implies it is the same vax (strains) you got 40 years ago, or are they introducing new vaccines disguised as boosters?
A case in point...I see the VA fairly regular and they always push for me to take the various flu and pneumonia shots and I politely refuse them. Tuesday's visit was uniquely different in that they asked about my childhood disease and any vax I've had. As a child I had measles, mumps and chicken pox, no vax's. My nurse responded that I should consider changing my stance on vaccines. My spidey senses tingled. I just shook my head NO. I think they know that our natural immunity will not hold either. How could it with new strains? On my ride home I pondered the big bucks that would bring the pharms. Sorry if that sounds disjointed, I'm still sipping coffee.
Define Australians!
Do they mean Native Brit Aussies or do they mean people from one of the half dozen third world hellholes?
Measles chicxpox mumps.
All
Well the CDC in the US started recommending everyone get a second MMR back in 1991. I wouldn’t be worrying too much if people who only got one MMR as an infant are getting measles, because the rest of the world is requiring two doses.
I got an MMR booster 30 years ago during a measles outbreak in Houston. I anticipated the CDC recommendations two years before they were released.
You were correct. Feel more safe having gotten mine. Getting the TDAP next month.
I went close up on the kid’s face....absolutely priceless!
