I’m 58 and when I was a kid I remember seeing a few people with these same burns and sometimes it was on the back. It was a common practice in the south for a Black woman to “scald” by throwing boiling water or hot grease on her husband or boyfriend when they were sleeping if she caught them cheating. Just do a search for “scalding cheating husband” you will get a lot of results, seems like it’s still pretty common.

Yeah, I ‘m going to go down to our neighborhood pharmacy this morning when it opens and see if it’s on one of the new drugs they have. It’s either that, or there’s a new “social diesease” around that I haven’t yet heard of, and they’ve misspelled his name. Or maybe the “r” is silent!

That might depend on the whos, wheres, and whats. I know there are people that think anything fried starts with shortening which I find disgusting. Then again, depending on what Im doing I often use bacon grease or lard that Ive rendered from the last hog and as often as I can I use beef heart tallow when the flavor (broiled steak) makes sense for that recipe.
People in different areas of a country this size can seem quite strange to the rest. I was recently down in some areas not too far from you. On more than one occasion a request for butter was answered with squeeze Parkay. I thought that that was a product flop that disappeared 20 years ago. I could neither believe someone voluntarily purchased that trash nor believe that some expected me to put that on food! Maybe some weirdo think their pet needs butter flavor but for a human?!?!
My oldest two have taken up drinking coffee and we like cream. When we would reject the flavored toxins we were offered the best some places could do was to charge us for a glass of milk to share. Are there people that dont know that modern refrigerated transportation can bring dairy to parts of the country short on cows?
Dont even get me started on baking soda “biscuits”.

Cake pans are greased with butter. Butter is butter. Margarine is also called butter.
Tomatoes make a sauce and it says so right on the label. Cheese is also made into a sauce. Anything else is a gravy. Betty Crocker says that’s what they are and I always follow what “she” says.
I grease cake pans with Crisco.
Also, Betty Crocker wasn’t Sicilian.
