Normal dosing of all benzos but particularly Xanax and clonazapan are addictive when used regularly over a long term ie month-or months Ie 2 to 4 times a day which can be a prescribed schedule.

For some sensitive people they are heck to get off of. I know a psychiatrist who uses a file to cut back dosing of Xanax. First day: one file rub, second day two file rubs on the pills, so eventually the pills are tiny nubs, then 3 nubs down to 2 nubs then 1 nub and then no nubs.

Benzos are the best pills in the world for focused short term relief of anxiety. And a few months can turn help into hinderance.

I suspect he is a sensitive man physiologically, and is having difficulty withdrawing. Not uncommon. There are ways to help and non addicting meds to use during this time.

I wish him well, I imagine that he has become enormously upset about his wife. He has become a world-wide blessing.

I’ve gone 24 to 36 hours and longer in between doses of klonopin.

Here’s how the stupidity worked a few times. I ran out on a Thursday and figured no biggie, i’ll skip it Friday because i have no time to get it on a work day.

Then Saturday i start to get withdrawals and feel too sick to get the meds :) By Sunday i’m a disaster and finally crawl to the pharmacy and stuff the pill in my mouth like a full fledged junkie :)

That has not happened in TWO YEARS, I think, AS I finally wised up.

As for needing rehab to get off of your prescription dose? I guess it can happen but only if you had an abusive doctor who put you on 8 to 20 mgs a day.

There is NO REASON in my instance to go to rehab because I NEVER went to the streets to get extra and i I did need 5 one day I took 3 the next. And that was rare.

So I am on 3. You cut down in half mgs and some doctors even 1/4 mg at a time.

It’s not easy but it’s certain not brutal like withdrawals and the feeling is nowhere near bad enough to need inpatient help.

Hope that answers it :)

I am truly sorry about your issues.

I have neuropathy from an ol head injury but it’s not that bad really.

The WEIRDEST result of the injury is I wake up with painful tremors every morning sine and they take a few minutes to go away. NO doctor can figure it out. They figure sleep/wake cycle damaged in head injury.

And neurontin didn’t work for me. I tried it a few times.

I am so GLAD it is working for you as your issues are quite a bit more severe than mine and I hate to see a good FReeper suffer.

I tried Ativan to replace klonopn but it didn’t work out well so i went back. Everyone is different.

My yoot was a different story. I DID take about 18 1 mg xanax over the course of a day and was actually relatively fine. That was over 30 years ago. Dope :)

I did NOT repeat that.

I know people that take INSANE amounts and I don’t know how they are still alive.

How could a normal human being be subjected to so much abuse (from feminists, leftists, etc.) and not be suffering from anxiety?

Regards,

abusers take higher doses.

that is what abuse is.

A number of regular users not abusers, need to detox.

Some people do not feel the effects of the detox. A number do.

We all have different neurological systems.

there is a very useful withdrawal protocol for Xanax involving clonidine, muscle relaxants, and the protocol I describe above for trapped users. Other users just do a long two to three week cutback

there is plenty of reason to go into rehab for withdrawal of normal dosing

Neurologically the withdrawal can play havoc with a number of people.

We need to take Jordan Peterson down to the Amazon and have him do Ayahausca with a qualified shaman for 2 weeks. I did and got me off of everything I was doing for good. It’s a miracle cure for some(was for me). Repairs and reworks your brain chemistry and helps you process trauma. Terrible and healing at the same time.

"There is NO REASON in my instance to go to rehab because I NEVER went to the streets to get extra..."

I'm a recovering alcoholic, and it was a very similar line of thinking that kept me in my cups for too many years. I figured as long as I could afford single malt scotch and microbrewery beers, I didn't have a problem, because everybody "knew" that "real" alcoholics only drank Mad Dog and cheap beer and lived under bridges.

“I decided I could die for free, without spending another dollar on doctors,”

Interesting sentence. Logical. Pharma and docs are so financially benefitting from our pain. I am on Meloxicam for pain, hoping to stave off another hip replacement a little longer, but only take it sporadically. I can’t imagine what people with much worse pain deal with day-to-day living.

Some people do have problems getting off of the normal dosage. I was on Klonopin for a couple of years and had no problem ending it, but I know a lot of people who have had problems.

Well xanax is fast acting and this one has to build up a maintenance level to work but they are both anti anxiety drugs.

All 3 have auto-immune issues. The daughter got both sets from husband and wife, so worse off than the parents. She went all beef after a lot of experimentation. After he saw the change in her life he tried it as well though not as strict and saw immediate improvements.

My wife was out traveling the last 3 weeks and I figured it wouldn’t hurt to see what happened. I did it for a week and 1/2 and noticed improved cognition, better energy, better sleep, reduced appetite, and lost 10 lbs.

Problem was lack of variety...and I think carb/sugar withdrawal to be honest. I did cheat by adding veggies and some fruit, but finally gave in to a whopping bowl of cereal and some bread around a brat. I’ve since gained back 3 lbs with just minimal carbs. I’m going to keep my carbs & sugars cut way back when the wife gets home and see how it goes. I do miss pasta though....

You should never “ cold turkey” off this or any benzodiazepine. If you stop opiates abruptly you feel miserable. You don’t have life threatening symptoms. Stop benzos and you can have the equivalent of DTs with severe seizures..

Since this thread is turning into a confessional of sorts...
Doc had me on 4mg/day Clonazepam for almost 2 years. I began to notice memory loss to the point that it was embarrassing ie “we just covered that mat’l yesterday dont you remember?”

Turns out thats a normal side effect of the drug. I stopped cold turkey and never felt the withdrawals that so many do...don’t know why/how. I discovered Lithium Orotate...OTC supplement (Amazon). It works for me. The reviews are impressive to say the least.
