Bit surprised THE Ohio State got the initial top spot over LSU.

This list makes it clear to me why this playoff should be eight teams, not four. I am not a Clemson fan, but it would be totally unfair for them to not be included.

If you assume the current rankings as final, the first games in an eight team playoff would be very interesting, especially Clemson-Penn St. and Georgia-Ala.

If Clemson keeps winning they’re in. ‘Bama vs LSU Saturday, Ohio State vs Penn State 11/23. Something’s gotta give!

Ohio State has had a cream puff schedule this year. The only team of note they have beaten so far this year is Wisconsin and Wisconsin lost the week before to Illinois making Wisconsin over-rated. The only team of note OSU plays this year is Penn State and we don’t know for sure how good PSU really is for their schedule has not been too tough either.

Not in the top ten because their schedule is garbage.
It won’t matter after 11/16 anyway, when the play Oklahoma.

I'm a Bama fan, but I agree, we need AT LEAST and 8 team playoff to be a fairer representation of the best team in the end.

Correct. Eight team playoff. One team per conference; no second place teams. Five, perhaps six, automatic bids for the major conferences, with the best of the rest taking the remaining spots. The major conferences would probably downsize to eliminate divisional play, so the conferences would probably revert to something resembling their historical forms, which made sense geographically.

Then play multiple ranked opponents.
If Baylor beats Oklahoma, they’ll be in the top ten.

Ohio State looks really strong unless they have a brain fart game.

College playoff is rigged for the SEC. Always. ALWAYS! Witness there are always TWO (2) SEC teams in the top 4.

Football conferences generally west of the SEC should secede and form their own football championship system.

And do not give me the garbage that “if other teams wanted to win CFP title, then they should field a better team.” The whole system is built to feed the SEC. When they keep winning, they get the good players. Most of the SEC teams play powder puff teams on their schedule.

And LSU really does not play very many “road” games. You know very well what I mean.

It is rigged, I tell you. Rigged.

“The major conferences would probably downsize to eliminate divisional play, so the conferences would probably revert to something resembling their historical forms, which made sense geographically.”

That would be the only major advantage to me of an eight-team playoff. The ACC, for example, is unwieldy in basketball now with the addition of a bunch of northeast teams with no historical rivalries with or geographical ties to the original conference teams.

“If you assume the current rankings as final, the first games in an eight team playoff would be very interesting, especially Clemson-Penn St. and Georgia-Ala.”

Georgia v. Alabama would likely be just a replay of the conference championship game, assuming those games would survive with an expanded playoff.

College playoff is rigged for the SEC.

The playoff itself is biased towards the SEC, with the SEC generally getting to play functional if not actual home games for the playoffs.
