If Thanksgiving will be that painful, maybe find a church or soup kitchen where you can help out, avoid the conflict, and at least feel like you had a useful day.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I really don't want to be around a bunch of nattering naybobs of negativity on Thanksgiving and my birthday so yes, going to do something more useful and productive.

On a side note, I cannot wait to laugh in their faces after election day next year. They live in such a bubble they've no idea the tsunami building up against them.

I would imagine, Vermont Lt, that prior to wars being waged many a person has spoken like you.

Often that sentence becomes a death sentence because a friend becomes an enemy and does what enemies do....kill.
