His “Mission Impossible” and “Jack Reacher” movies are entertaining.
That was a close second.
LOL! CGI?!
I still don’t understand why he is still flying in the Navy instead of flying for a commercial airline. I guess we are supposed to buy into the “most unique and talented fighter pilot ever” idea and believe exceptions were made for Maverick.
Yep. Top Gear is entertaining.
Cruise movies, not so much.
Looking forward to this, but the timing just doesnt work. Pete Mitchell was probably commissioned in 1979-1980 and as a Captain, mandatory retirement would be 30 years, meaning retirement in 2009-2010. Interested to see if they backdate the story or go with the standard suspended disbelief since its Hollywood. Anyway, should be good fun.
The original Top Gun came out in 1986. He was a LT then (O2) in the Navy. As a Captain, he’s an O6. Sure, he’s at the end of the rope, but 30 years as an officer, maybe busted down once, and rose back up to O6 (Captain, in the Navy), it’s feasible to me. (I was enlisted, CTT E-4/PNA E-5, 1988-1992).
Maybe they’ll just build an extra-large model of a cockpit that fits around Val, then put a green screen behind it to make it look like he’s flying around.
See below listed aircraft @ https://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/g2467/11-of-the-largest-cargo-planes-in-the-sky/
Val Kilmer fitting into a cockpit of a Antonov An-124 Condor. Believable. Maybe
Val Kilmer fitting into a cockpit of a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy. Believable. Maybe.
I heard a story some time ago that in this new movie the patches on the back of his jacket were changed so as not to offend China?
Something like that.
