I never wanted to go on one before, now I definitely don't want to go near one.
Floating like a canned sardine with a bunch of drunks and a sealed air system...
“Watched the Twitter video...wow!
The guy (that knows disease control well) was scared for his life just being on that cruise ship.”
Oh my the ship is floating coffin. I am very surprise Japan being a advance country that they not have good controls in place. Is the cruise ship in charge of their on infection control?
Did he just state Japan government has no organization like the US CDC?
.
Maybe you could watch the video before you fire your return comment at me?
Floating like a canned sardine with a bunch of drunks and a sealed air system...
And lots buffet food, too!
Also impossible to shut down the ventilation system.
They’ll have to burn the ship. Who’d want to sail on it after this?
******************************************
The ship needs to have ROBUST Germicidal Ultraviolet air disinfection systems incorporated into its ventilation system to kill all molds, viruses and bacteria.
My apology, took it way wrong. My bad.
Sounds like one gov entity (wanting to protect themselves) didnt like this guy from a different gov entity sticking his nose in the ship, but ships personnel wanted his help and helped him get onboard.
Sounds like there was no real infectious disease control program or supplies for that ship.
This will lead to a massive change in disease control in the cruise ship industry.
No problem...
I am appalled at the Japanese’s government response. Hopefully the US government responds correctly.
At one point he laments: "Bureaucracy was in control"
It sounded to me as if the Dr. thought even the CDC was inadequate to the task. ??
Someone has requested text on YouTube (in effect, a transcript), which might help clear that up.
This Dr. Iwata appears to me to be an expert’s expert, with lots of practical experience, and he’s clearly very alarmed about the cruise ship situation.
Eh, should have fronted my #30 with “Agreed”.
That said, I think PART of the bureaucracy was helping Dr. Iwata get onboard, and then kept getting overruled, eventually even after he was onboard for a while...
Hope they are getting quadruple time...
Yeah, not real clear. The
Bottom line he did NOT like what he saw and he feared for himself.
I see what you mean.
I recently read a book in which the author suggested that no individual, within his/her personal consciousness, ever dies.
He suggested that individuals just *appear* to die to the others (apparently) left behind; while the individual just travels along into some other ‘thing’ or way of being.
He was suggesting that we, in our real selves, are eternal.
Here is another author who suggested something very similar:
Jean-Emile Charon, The Spirit: That Stranger Inside Us

I doubt that the Diamond Princess is salvageable.
Video removed from YouTube - hmmm... I wonder what’s up with that?
Update from Professor Iwata himself:
So, it would seem the Professor’s vid did its job. Good for him and the people at risk!
Who says one person can’t make a difference?(!)
:-)
