I read somewhere abut reports of the Hanatavirus going around China now. Either Stop eating random snakes, rats, bats, spiders, etc. from your nasty wet markets and fix the sanitation issues or quit saying you are a 1st world county.

Boris Johnson is technically right, in the sense that herd immunity will eventually render this virus toothless. The problem is the body count before herd immunity is achieved.
Xi Jinpin is emperor in all but name. However, he is pretty sensitive to this kind of stuff because plagues in China have traditionally coincided with massive popular revolts and elite mutinies.

I can see eating bats, in the sense of properly butchering and properly cooking the meat. It’s not for me but that bat soup is something else.
I’ve seen a few of the hidden camera vids of the wet markets. No concept of any sanitation, quality control, etc. Just lop of the head of a snake, chop it up, then a bat, etc. all day long.
