You better put Bryce Canyon on that trip.
Hell of a place to lose a cow.
I was planning on a train trip from Vancouver to Toronto in August. Probably wait till the 2nd or 3rd week in May before looking into it seriously. Maybe nowhere this year????
I’m a South Dskota native..you would love the Black Hills. Fly into Sioux Falls..probably easier to get to than Rapid City. Figure a days drive to Rapid City..5 hours road time plus stops for food gas and comfort. Rapid City is close to Mt Rushmore and you will drive by the Badlands on the way. Plan on a train ride on the 1880 train and a drive through Custer State Park amd Iron Mountain Road and Needles hiway Put Deadwoid on the list and drive through Spearfish Canyon. Dont miss stopping at the worlds greatest tourest trap Wall Drug...you need food and gas anyway.
I spent one day at Bryce. Take two steps, and the scenery changes!
It was amazing.
:^)
NJ has an a-hole guv who is going full tyrant. The state is slowly dying. A great portion of the GDP is shore vacation and that is in essence outlawed.
Another vote for Bryce.
Wow, that’s sad to hear about Zion. Went there as a kid on family trips in the 60s and the place was deserted. Went there in the early 70s when I had left home and was working at my first job. It was still nearly empty.
Springdale is teeming with young millennials (both tourists and locals), almost looks like a college town.
Al’s website seems to be down. All the FReeper traffic crashed it!
The Utah State Patrol will be on the lookout for you.
I actually need help on whether planes will be flying June 5 and if any of Utah and Arizona, Nevada will be open...
Good for you!
On the year we can pry ourselves off the farm, we plan to take a two week road trip with a northern rout West and a southern rout back to the Midwest. (Avoiding the barren wasteland of southern IL, LOL!)
So much to see! I had a Mom that loved car trips, so I’ve been all over the USA, with the exception of the NE.
I’d love to go.
As long as the spousal unit can stay up to date with nationwide data for her sports addiction, it might happen.
Otherwise, I’d have to go by myself.
I’m finally throwing a few resources at the long sitting CB750. It’s been sitting up for way longer than I planned.
With this sort of home imprisonment, I have made myself get going on reassambling and preserving for the long haul, the project CJ7 heater box.
There is a long and detailed webpage out there by a guy with tons of details.
A lot of the metal parts I could paint. I bagged all of them and sent them to powder coating. The place is a small business, very reasonable, good service, friendly people and I like going there.
Besides on some parts I use a certain shade that can be used for ID purposes and proof that some things were done.
When the goovenair here in SC gets off the golf course or wakes up to call off the pleasure police and gendarmes of progress, I can go back to my off site makeshift garage.
The hope is to get the chassis powder coated sometime.
