Your auto-correct just plugged in bedwerter (x2) and bedsetter.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Go back and read the comments from gas_dr. I copy and pasted ‘bed werters’ and ‘bed setter’ from comments he/she wrote while he/she accused other of name calling.

There’s a reason a rule at FR is to stay out of other people’s battles.

With all due respect, Gramps, you and the other FluBros are perfectly free to start your own thread. We can send you instructions on how to do that.

When you voluntarily jump into this thread you’re gonna get what you signed-up for.

That's fine, as I said you're taking a position based on a medical procedure. Personally, I'm all for removing the liability protection vaccines receive thanks to our congress, but absolutely nothing either of us do is going to change the Bill Gates vaccine machine that is gearing up to defeat this new Chinese bioweapon that is infecting us.

This isn't the flu.

What’s next, a discussion on the secret messages Deborah Birx sends with her scarf positions? How about the enormous legal pain Jeff Sessions is going to drop on various felons in government

—————————————.

As you can see, these flubros are much too busy to talk about such trivial things. They would much rather yell at themselves about bed werters.

God, I love these flubros threads. Every day. If sod poodle does not post a joke thread, then I can always get some laughs from this place.

You know i only respond I’m kind. The critical care and anesthesia business is quiet because the hospitals are closed to anything as apparently there is only one disease process in the world at this point. People are not getting the care that is necessary because of the rampant and misplaced fear that exists.

You know there hasn’t been a single death in our county of over one million in 21 days. There have been 75 hospitalizations in now two months. What happens if you throw a pandemic and no one shows up?

When will the fearpers realize we have been had?
When will there be intellectual honesty?

You extrapolated to everyone who holds a certain opinion based on the facts. You don’t get to attack and then hide. You made it my business.

Yesterday’s was good. Just facts. No press drama. The way the briefings should be. Sadly, POTUS’ Q&A sessions harmed him more than they helped. Whatever he said, it was spun to harm him, so better not to say anything.

My county has a higher incidence of CoV—primarily related to nursing homes. I’ve heard DeSantis is working on limiting liability. I recall the FL Society of Anesth. signed on to the concern. Is there a schedule for re-opening urgent and non-urgent elective surgeries yet?

When you voluntarily jump into this thread you’re gonna get what you signed-up for.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I jumped in to point out the hypocrisy of gas_dr as he/she mocked posters who aren’t supposed to be part of ‘your’ thread.

And I did get what I ‘signed up for’. I pointed out hypocrisy and an inability to admit simple fault when it is warranted.

Another interesting point is that you choose to type ‘Gramps’ instead` of Bramps. Can any of you engage in debate without even subtle personal attacks?

“I’ll be so happy when this mask-wearing fiasco”

Ditto. I haven’t worn one yet but have made plenty for friends who live in retirement homes. They have no choice when it comes to masks, and it’s almost impossible for them to buy them anywhere. I also sent some pretty ones to my mom, who’s 96 and has had autoimmune issues.

Personally, I find it very satisfying to make baaing sheep sounds whenever I pass by someone wearing a mask, especially if they are young.

You do amazing work with hurricanes. I love your threads in hurricane season and actually turn to them as the definitive source of information. You use data generated and make rational statements based on the data. It does not lead to shutdowns of the entire economy in terms of what may occur at day +5 where the error range is quite wide.

In the same way, what has happened here is that the entire nation was placed under lockdown based on models, models that have been amazingly wrong. The original model of 2.2M American deaths is completely absurd at there are not even 250,000 deaths world wide and this virus has gone through some of the worst medical communities possible. I am not taking into account Chinese data because we all know that is flawed and incorrect. however, we do know what the rest of the world looks like.

I have held the stance, and the data are now proving this to be correct — this disease is hammering the elderly — there is no question. But the uncomfortable truth is that virtually every disease hammers the elderly. Novel was H1N1 in 2010 or so where middle age people took the biggest hit, not the elderly. That was strange, and I treated patients in that pandemic.

But people have lost the ability to look at the data. When I first started posting on this, I was emotional as I was on the front line taking care of the patients and scared to death. But I did it anyway — go look back at my earliest posts. I decided at that point to put the emotion aside and act as a scientist which is my training. While I and my colleagues have been maligned (those of us who take the stance of looking rationally at the numbers, instead of the darlings that push information to fit a narrative), I have been threatened publicly and privately with: lawsuits, social media shaming, doxing, and physical harm with a subset of Feapers wishing that I Andy family would get the disease and suffer so that I would learn the error of my ways.

The fact of the matter is this, and no one, not even those trumpeting the numbers and accusing me of dancing on the graves of Americans can refute:

1. This disease is now a political football, being used to manipulate the emotions of the emotional into handing over the liberties of every American

2. We are under constitutional suspension as two parts of the first amendment are under suspension: The freedom to worship as we please, and the right to peacefully assemble. What ever “good reason” might exist, the constitution was written for times like these when tyrants would use an event to take away freedom.

3. The Data, particularly from world odometer, is flawed. I used worldodometer at first as I thought early on it was a great source. However, of late, it is reporting every assumption, and not the facts. For example, in the hottest of spots yesterday deaths are down 40%, hospitalizations are slowed to a triple, and number of cased reported are down 50% over the previous week. We should look at all data sets to determine where the truth lay. Look up the NYC health data set, and you see a vastly different picture

4. The data are corrupted. Multiple revisions have occurred, and only in the upward direction and based on ONLY presumptive or possible cases. This is not medical science in the least. One cannot attribute something to an assumption.

5. Look at the FL DOH website, there is a section in the report (not graphical dashboard) that tracks ER chief complaints of shortness of breath, cough, and fever complaints. The numbers spike 24. days ago, and are now in significant decline.

The point is this: No reasonable scientist or person trained in any liberal arts uses a single data set to form an opinion. But there are those here that take it as gospel truth. As a nurse, you know this to be true, that we look at all data in healthcare to determine a diagnosis and then execute a plan. How many times have you been someone go down the therapeutic rabbit hole based on a single data point that viewed in a vacuum justifies a treatment plan, but in the overall context of the patient makes that plan unreasonable? Hell, I have done it myself. But we learn to evaluate the data in terms of the context to form a true picture of whats going on.

The true picture of whats going on it this:

1. There is far more spread of this disease than originally thought (See antibody testing from New York and California). The vast majority of these people randomly tested can recall NO symptoms, let alone mild symptoms. Therefore the natural process of this disease is brief, self limited and mild.

2. Over 95% of the deaths are in the elderly with multiple comorbidities. Therefore, this disease is acting no different than the vast majority of diseases in the world, there is nothing new here.

3. There are now confirmed reports of the disease far earlier than originally thought right here in America. Combined with the number of hospitalizations and critical care admissions in December, January and February that were influenza negative, we can reasonably surmise that the disease was circulating, and likely at its most intense at a point in time long before social distancing, and the hospitals were not overwhelmed. Therefore, it is likely that this disease does NOT significantly impact the American Health Care system as we planned.

The data paint a picture of a relatively benign virus (to the extent that we call any disease benign) that has had a disproportionate reaction in terms of fear that has translated to an opportunity for control of the governments over citizens. Those that trumpet single data points that are in question at the top of their lungs and never respond to a critique of those data points are in large part responsible for this, and they exist on this very forum.

I welcome a rational discussion and critique of what I have said, but it is intolerable to hear many of the Fearpers smug in there statements but unable to defend them. It speaks volumes as to taking an indefensible position.

Only 7 days until Hurricane Season!

Thanks for listening...

True enough. There are limited specific circumstances and situations in which wearing a mask is necessary and to do otherwise would be grossly irresponsible, if not dangerous ... I undestand that.

Being outdoors in a non-heavily congested closed area is not one of those "limited specific circumstances and situations" ... and I always add: "If you're sick, stay the hell home until you get better! If you're sick, wearing a mask, goggles, gloves, whatever is not the solution; staying home and away from other people, as has been practiced for 100 years, is the right thing to do!"

Cheers!

To be an anti-vaxxer isn’t an ad hominem attack

The way it was used is.

And vaxxing or anti vaxxing has nothing to do with your panic mongering and the topic of this thread.

Your derp state flu conspiracy theory is the topic.

Intellectual honesty is important.
