Lin-Manuel Miranda issued an apology to fans of Hamilton for the Broadway show’s failure to publicly denounce systemic racism sooner on Saturday.
The 40-year-old playwright and actor also affirmed the show’s support for the Black Lives Matter, as protests have roiled major cities across the nation in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
He began his short Twitter statement by pointing out how quickly the show was to respond to previous crises and incidents of racism and hatred.
“We spoke out on the day of the Pulse shooting. We spoke out when Vice President Mike Pence came to our show 10 days after the election,” he began.
“That we have not yet firmly spoken the inarguable truth that Black Lives Matter and denounced systematic racism and white supremacy from our official Hamilton channels is a moral failure on our part,” Miranda said. …

Can you imagine if a white playwright had written a play about historic figures who were members of minority groups , and would only hire white actors to play the parts?
So this guy writes a play based on historical figures who were white , but only minorities are allowed to play the parts. And all the critics in the media lauded him for his Visionary casting.
No apology from him for his blatant “cultural appropriation”, of course.
Well, his play is racist and he’s a moral failure. Sounds about right.
I’m pretty tired of the ‘systematic racism’ canard being pushed in our face year after year. Everywhere in all walks of life universities, corporations, institutions are bending over backwards trying to recruit and hire qualified minorities. The ‘pull’ is definitely there.
What isn’t there is the ‘push’ from the community itself. Things can be made easier and easier and easier, but at some point minorities have to study, learn engineering, learn a craft or a trade...or join a police force....domsomething....anything to help themselves.
The American system has done all it can possibly do at this point. Many minorities have taken full advantage, become role models, are successful, and good for them. But, where’s the line for the ones who choose not to participate in America? Is insisting on law and order oppressive? Really?
Sorry.....ain’t going to play that game. Not this time.
Our feckless governors and big city mayors have completely let us down. They’ve been to so many social justice classes they don’t even know when they are being completely taken advantage of by their own voters. It’s so sad. Trump showed how to take back control of D.C. tonight. Hopefully all the city leaders will follow his lead.

Well this year it’s definatly thicker because Dem’s knew they were losing the black vote in a big way. They had to do something drastic to get the blacks back on the plantation again..
Recall Pelosi saying when people aren’t listening to their message she has to do something ‘extreme’ to get their atttention..
I agree with you. Trump is a different kind of guy.....no denying that, but his message seems to have resonated with some black Americans who are tired of the BS the Dems have been pedaling the last 50 years.
We were just pulling out of COVID and boom....riots! Part of me think both situations were planned operations......
I think people for the most part people are going to be thankful Trump cracked down on the looting. No man or woman anywhere in any city is happy feeling unsafe.
So, what card do the Dems play after that? Sexism? Anti Asian? Seriously......someone must be in a back room somewhere lobbing all these problems into Trumps lap. What’s next?

It wasn’t a thing when Hamilton was alive, and Chernow certainly didn’t address it in his biography.
I think the sight of a bunch of white guys doing hip-hop would be pretty ridiculous. As it was, within a few seconds into the opening number most people forget the ethnicity of the actors and appreciate the play.

This doesn’t even make sense - this is like saying I wore my MAGA hat but didn’t wear my MAGA tee-shirt so that’s a moral failing. And it presumes that it matters what the cast of a play thinks or says.
