Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan continues to be lambasted for a June 11 interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, during which she suggested the occupied protest around the city’s east police precinct could simply be a “summer of love.”

The remark has not aged well.

Also: "We don't have to sacrifice safety for first amendment rights."

Well, Mayor, there was at least one black life in CHOP that didn't matter.

She went Full Blue Oyster Cult:

Feeling easy on the outside
But not so funny on the inside
Feel the sound, pray for rain
‘Cause this is the night we ride

This ain’t the Garden of Eden
There ain’t no angels above
And things ain’t what they used to be
And this ain’t the Summer of Love

Lock all your doors from the outside
The key will dangle by the inside
You may begin to understand
That this is the night we ride

This ain’t the Garden of Eden
There ain’t no angels above
And things ain’t like they used to be
And this ain’t the Summer of Love
The Summer of Love!

On the night we ride (ain’t the Summer of Love)
On the night we ride (this ain’t the Summer of Love)
On the night we ride (ain’t the Summer of Love)
On the night we ride (this ain’t the Summer of Love)

This ain’t the Garden of Eden
There ain’t no angels above
And things ain’t what they used to be
And this ain’t, this ain’t, this ain’t, this ain’t
This ain’t the Garden of Eden
There ain’t no angels above
And things ain’t what they’re supposed to be
And this ain’t the Summer, this ain’t the Summer
This ain’t, this ain’t, this ain’t the Summer of Love

Leftists come in two flavors: the ruthless revolutionaries and the useful idiots. Ruthless revolutionaries are cold and will do anything to achieve their goals of communism. They don't care who they hurt, not anymore than they worry about stepping on on ant.

Useful idiots are people who are incapable of independent thought. They act solely on emotion and then in response to what they are told they should feel by the ruthless revolutionaries pulling the strings.

This mayor is 100% useful idiot. Totally governed by feeling. Lose a chunk of you city to revolutionaries? 'Aww, that's so cute! they just want what we all do, equality and friendship for all! Wait, they're shooting each other? Well uh, um, uh, it was an accident?'

A simple question: why hasn’t CRUD been dismantled and the subhuman savages who appropriated it in jail?

She doesn't have the backbone to do what's right.

In jest? Bullshit.

Let Mayor Durkan continue to marinate in her own juices. She created this mess. She refused Pres. Trump’s offer to help. Now she owns it.

The existence of an “autonomous zone” is first and foremost, an indictment of local authorities, namely the mayor and the governor. These people are too stupid to realize that there authority is being directly challenged. Letting this go on makes them look weak and impotent. How can anyone commandeer private property and the local authorities support it? Why pay local taxes if the authorities are not going to enforce the law?

This is NOTHING like “Hashbury” in San Francisco.

Hunter S. Thompson labeled the district “Hashbury” in The New York Times Magazine, and the activities in the area were reported almost daily. The Haight-Ashbury district was sought out by hippies to constitute a community based upon counterculture ideals, drugs, and music.

The Capital Hill Oppression Park (CHOP) is the antithesis of what “Hashbury” was in the 1960’s. No ideals, and not inclined to be mellow in the least.

Let her stew in the mess she allowed to fester. Let the people of Seattle experience their new Utopia.

At some point she'll either be forced to call National Guard troops or beg Trump to help her.

The tragedy is she'll probably get re-elected or her challenger will be more extreme than she is.

Liberals never learn from their mistakes.

I can’t even imagine living in that city. First all the homeless and now this. Isn’t this where MicroSoft and Amazon live?

Exactly. She is wearing it now. And the CHOP situation is far from playing out. There will be a lot more she’ll have to back away from.

But then again, Seattle deserves what it votes for.
