That’s what I was thinking too. The act of putting it in the mailbox may be a violation of federal law.
On a side note, I believe Amazon and others may have cut a deal that allows them to legally put packages in your mail box though.

I hate it when crazy people claim they were a Navy Seal or some similar elite thing. We know better and they are almost certainly lying, but the media loves to have a headline like, “Man Claiming to be Navy Seal Waves Gun, Shouts Racial Slurs.”
